I'm sure most of you guys remember walking into every gym and seeing the cooler filled with preworkout drinks, thermogenic drinks, etc. What was the popular brand name? Bottles were usually red or purple in color if I remember correctly.

I can remember Razor Ripped was one but it was an orange bottle if I remember correctly.

Those two definitely sound familiar.
Speed Stack was another I believe.
ABB is who made all of them. Those things were legit.

Blue Thunder was the best ABB drink in my opinion.

Felt like you could literally bench press the gym while you were 1 step away from going into cardiac arrest. That shite made my heart race like a derby horse.
If you are talkng about late 90's and early 2000's stuff, got to throw out good old Ripped Fuel even though it was a pill. Shite single handedly helped us invade Iraq on no sleep.

I was mainly looking for the brand that was in every gym cooler. But it’s always good talking about the best pre workouts like ultimate orange and jacked.

There were several different versions over the years. They kept tweaking the formula and as time went on it got weaker and weaker. I don’t know what the hell was in that stuff but circa 1995 or so it gave me some of the best workouts in my garage ever. Dave Palumbo on his podcast has speculated that in the beginning Dan Duchaine spiked it with some oral anabolics. I’ve seen it mentioned that he might have put smaller amounts of Oxandrolone (anavar) Norethandrolone (nilevar) Mesterlone (Androviron) and later maybe Clenbuterol. My friends and I called it ‘rocket fuel’ because as someone said you felt like you could lift the whole gym on that stuff

We used to call it orange rage.
Is that the one that was damaging peoples kidneys?

I still order NO-Xplode once a year. I love that stuff.
Jacked didn’t come around until 2010ish I feel like.
There was a post workout creatine called Dark Matter that turned into a gelatin like substance when you added water. It was awesome!

I had no idea it came from Duchaine. The speculation I heard was that it was tainted with methamphetamine. The effects people reported seemed to align with that, as opposed to ephedrine. However, I think the official word was that it contained ephedrine and that dosing got lowered and then eliminated.

He created it. Dude was an evil genius and I have zero doubt the versions up until the mid 90’s had something in them. He often would joke to other people in the industry about putting anabolics or stimulants into products to make them work better and said nobody would ever know. I think eventually he sold rights to a distributor and then the product became watered down version that wasn’t as strong. If you ever had it when it was in a tin can that was Duchaines version when it was sold in plastic containers that was the ‘corporate’ version that worked but wasn’t near as strong.
