I’m looking to get a new trimmer, blower, and hedge trimmer. I’m between Echo and Stihl. I want something that will last I’m done with the Lowes/Home Depot junk that lasts a few years. What are y’all thoughts between Echo and Stihl?

I don’t think you can go wrong either way. I have an echo weedeater/edger combo and a blower and they both run like a top. I mainly chose echo because I was able to cash in credit card rewards for Home Depot gift cards to buy them

I've had both. I prefer Echo, mostly because of their effortless starting system.

I will go Echo unless you are going to be using the hell out of em

Stihl.
I’ve heard people saying Echos are easier to start, but I have no trouble starting my Stihl Equipment. Prime, two pulls on choke, squeeze/feather trigger and it’s running.
You really can’t go wrong with either. However, if you need something really powerful, Stihl is the only option.

I prefer Echo. I think Echo bought shindaiwa and they are the same also. Just got a 60cc echo chainsaw and it is a beast.

I'm also in the Echo camp.

I just went through this process. I used my neighbor’s Echo trimmer/edger, and I tried a Stihl Kombi System at my local Stihl dealer (they let me cut their weeds back behind their shop
) I ended up buying the Stihl Kombi. Both kick the shite out of my Ryobi system, but I’d go with Stihl over Echo if I had to pick. The Stihl I used vibrates a little less and is a little easier to control.

I bought an Echo SMR225 string trimmer this past spring and love it. More than enough power to trim anything it needs to around my property. The string loads easier than any string trimmer I've ever owned in the past and starting is a snap.
I make sure to only use non-ethanol gas in all my small engine tools.

I’m a Stihl guy but have no experience or knowledge of Echo so take that fwiw.

All my gas powered lawn tools are Stihl and I’m happy with them but I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase Echo products. Perhaps the one that feels best in your hands. I know purchasing OEM replacement parts on-line for Stihl is difficult and I always have to purchase them from an authorized dealer, I don’t know if that is true for Echo. If not, that might be a consideration.

quote:Yeah, most people don't realize the way Stihl and their dealerships work. That's the one holdback of a residential customer buying a Stihl. Echo you can get parts anywhere. I went a step up from the SRM225 to the SRM230. Wasn't much more and to be honest I don't ever use the added power it provides. The Echo Speedfeed head is the best in the business as well.

I have Stihl trimmer, edger, chainsaws, and an Echo handheld blower and hedge trimmer. The Echo hedge trimmer is from when they where still Kioritz Co. before merging with Shindaiwa under the Yamabiko label. The older Echo products are better built overall but even the new Echo stuff is more than fine for any residential and light commercial work. If you are right-handed then a Stihl handheld blower will be a better choice simply because the pick up air is on the side not facing you. My PB-250LN is great but that is one flaw in that the air pick up is facing my body while using it and my t-shirt gets sucked over the intake at times. So if I was in your position I'd get Echo or Stihl for anything on your list except the blower which would be definitely Stihl.

Stihl. Wish they made lawnmowers I’d buy that too. Some of mine 12 years and counting no hiccups.

I’m a redmax fan, they’re hard to beat. Out the two you listed, Stihl imo.

Echo. I have a trimmer and a 590 chainsaw. Best two pieces of property maintenance equipment I've bought for the money.

I had that Lowe's Troy Bilt crap for a long time.
Now I have a Stihl Kombi system...just edger and weedeater.
I got the speed head for the weedeater...no more carrying pliers to take that damn nut off....just carry an extra precut length of line in my back pocket. No issues at all with Stihl.
You truly do get what you pay for. I learned my lesson.

I have a Stihl backpack blower that I've had for several years. It's never let me down and runs as good today as it did when it was brand new.
When my old weedeater went out, I went to the store determined to by a Stihl weedeater. I left with an Echo. The head on the Echo sold me. Very, very easy to respool with new line.
Stihl may have the same now but they did not then.

Do you have a link to the speed head you use?
