Have to get a new washer and dryer. What brands should we stay away from?

All about the same if you change the oil regularly and keep up with the scheduled maintenance.

Get you a used white set from 20 years ago for like $150 on fb and it’ll last you the rest of your life

Stay away from Samsung. I would also highly recommend using C&C Home Appliances. Their customer service is top notch and they price match.

People swear by Speed Queen, but the dryer/washer combo that I have (six years old) needs constant repairs. They have a long warranty but shops don’t seem to want to fix them so I’ve had to do a lot of the repairs myself.
When we need to buy again it definitely won’t be Speed Queen.

Everyone I know with a front load washer has had their main board go out on them…it costs more to fix them than get a new one. The more expensive they are, the shittier they are. I’m sticking with my old top loader.

I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer set back in March 2016 and the only thing that’s happened is the heating element in the dryer went out. Took me about 5 minutes switching it out and like $20 on Amazon then it was good as new. You can still buy Kenmore stuff online but it is getting harder and harder to find. I believe Whirlpool is pretty much the same thing and it’s a decent brand, may want to look into those too.

Our LG front loaders were terrible. I tossed them and bought Speed Queens a year or two back. They are more expensive but worth it.

A bit of advice you may or may not take but it’s right.
Top load with the minimal amount of settings. No efficiency anything. Tell them you want the loudest damn washer that uses the most water. If you wanna splurge a little.. buy Speed Queen top load.
NO front loaders. NO South Korean brands. NO bells and whistles.
It’s hell to get anything worked on nowadays if you buy from a box store. Try to find a local place.

I have had the opposite experience. Speed queen has been solid for us since 2016.

Speed Queen will be my next purchase. Second tier. Research that and there is a setting that basically allows you to fill your washer up like old times. So your clothes actually get clean.

Get normal looking washer and dryers and don’t get sucked into the fancy looking stuff and that it’s better.

We've never had problems with ours. I bought the most basic models. Our dryer has 2 knobs and a start button, which is all they should have.

Same here. We’ve had our Speed Queen set for ten years with zero problems. That washer will clean ANYTHING.

If you’re not spending speed queen money, get an LG.
