Mushnick's sexist article about Kim Mulkey was an ugly joke

The reason woman-hating Phil Mushnick writes for the second-rate New York Post is that he is a second-rate journalist. Some might even call him a hack.
In a highly sexist, potentially libelous article, Mushnick attacked LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey this week, “calling her a clown-outfitted, attention-starved, raging, sideline-stomping coach.”
In a world where there is no limit to the number of attention-starved, raging, sideline-stomping male coaches he could have made the focus of his hit piece male coaches like John Calipari, who scandal follows wherever he goes, the foul-mouthed whiner Mike Krzysewski, and the ego maniacal Rick Pitino. But, he chooses to attack a woman, even going so far as to criticize the way she dresses.
What is Mushnick’s problem with women?
He says Mulkey is “representative of the uglier side of sports, remorselessly stomping opponents, humiliating them in the name of sports” as if every head coach doesn’t do the same thing.
UCON’s head coach Gino Auriemma led the Huskies to the Final Four this year by beating the likes of Toronto Metropolitan 111-34, Dayton 102-58 and DePaul 104-67. But he gets a pass because he is a male.
In fact, Mushnick couldn’t resist flaming the entire LSU women’s team, calling the players “tantrum prone” and he reserved a highly personal insult for Angel Reese citing her “inability to write a cogent sentence as a public reply to a question on Instagram.” Can a journalist stoop any lower.
Mulkey is one of the most successful women’s basketball coaches in the history of the sport, having won four national championships at Baylor and LSU. She was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2020. She is the first to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach, and coach. Just as important, she has played a key role in helping lift women’s basketball to astronomical heights. A record 12.3 million viewers turned on the LSU vs. Iowa Elite Eight game recently.
Crawl back under your rock Phil.

It’s time to put all of this to bed.
The media has always tried to stop Mulkey and she continues to win and sign top players and mold young athletes. We will be fine.

You guys get your feelings hurt way too easily. Mulkey is a bit abrasive, but that’s ok. She’s good at her job.
Everyone just needs to move on.

I haven’t seen anyone in real life talking about this mess but this board is acting like it’s the most important thing in the world

Sorry. It’s been corrected. I was typing while angry.

They are only feeding the beast. Kim will become even more popular among LSU fans and more reviled by others. La Tech already has a statue of her, and I predict some day LSU will as well.

I don’t disagree but the political crap has been turning this site into a cesspool lately. It’s past the point of being too much. I was thinking the admins finally got sick of it and starting cleaning house because it was kind of nice to not see any of this shite on the first page for once in a long while. .. until now.

Well said.
I've never been a fan of KM, couldn't stand her when she was at Baylor. But these latest attempts to smear her are what gives journalism a bad name. It's no wonder the general disdain for today's media.

Mr. Mushnick, please show me on this doll where Kim Mulkey touched you.

Maybe he’s gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

This whole episode is a symptom of how a binary political view has penetrated every facet of our culture.
When Mulkey was a “right wing racist” WaPo and the LA Times came after her. Now that she is an “American hating woke lefty” the NY Post is after her.
This is about consumer journalism that relies on stoking division for clicks.

The guy hates college sports and honestly his piece reads like he is offended that black athletes get the opportunity to attend major universities they otherwise wouldn't.
Dude might as well say he doesn't think black people should be allowed in college.
quote:
Knowing as we do that all college coaches are limited to what they’re allowed to do — increasingly anything they wish in order to recruit academically deficient kids to produce many more wins than losses — Mulkey has been a dark-side overachiever.

As a disciplinarian, Mulkey seems as tantrum-prone as her players. In the win vs. UCLA prior to the Iowa game, star Angel Reese, a transfer from Maryland despite evidence of an inability to write a cogent sentence as a public reply to a question on Instagram,

You could put "Bobby Knight" anywhere her name is (obviously reversing genders) and it would basically read the same.
That said, she seems to purposefully feed the drama.
Bobby Knight would not tolerate the AR foolishness, and that's a fact.
