Crews finished 2021 at: .362, 18 HR, OPS 1.116

Right now, Curiel is at: .373, 5 HR, 1.069 OPS

Crews was better. He’s the best player in SEC history. But Curiel ain’t that far off his freshman pace.

What’s the discussion?

Crews is obviously the better player and that’s not a knock on Curiel.

Curiel needs to gain 10-15 lbs of muscle. It's hard to criticize the kid, he's elite, I just think for him to get to Crews territory he'll have to hit for a little more power. He's got time. He's a skinny 19 yr old that will grow into a man in the next few years.

I love Curiel. But Crews is like the Burrow of baseball.
Not saying Curiel can’t change my mind… but I wait and watch.

Would love for Curiel to add 10-15 lbs of muscle during the offseason.

There is no discussion to be had. Crews slugged like .530 in the SEC as a freshman. There arent many guys that can or will touch that in Y1.

I mean not really. He’s quite often referred to as top 3 at least in LSU history and LSU is the most storied program in the SEC. Not really seeing the stretch there.

But yes I agree. Not fair to compare the two. Curiel is great in his own right and that’s all that matters. Finds a way to barrel balls consistently.

Why do we have to do this? Crews obviously had a better freshman year

I doubt that Curiel will ever have the power that Crews had. But he will be his equal at every other aspect of the game by the time he leaves LSU

Not fair to Curiel trying to make this comparison. Just let him carve out his own legacy.
