In a largely unprecedented financial concession to give roster flexibility to a contending franchise, New York Knicks All-NBA guard Jalen Brunson has agreed to a four-year, $156.5 million contract extension -- $113 million less guaranteed than he is eligible to sign for a year from now -- his agent, Sam Rose of CAA, told ESPN on Friday.

The deal, which begins in 2025-26 and will cost Brunson $37.1 million over the next three years, comes with a fourth-year player option, Rose said, and that would set up Brunson to recoup the $113 million on a four-year, $323 million maximum extension in 2028 or a new five-year, $418 million deal in 2029.

Thibodeau is his coach and he is renowned for taking the tread off of players' tires quick.

Who knows...Brunson has been rode hard and put away wet all last season. He could break down for good this season.

Even if Thibs grinds him to dust if he plays his career right he'll make a ton afterwards being a Knicks legend. The bar is so low he only needs a couple more 2nd rd exits.

It’s NY, you can make it up with endorsements

But if they do win, think of how much $ he’s going to make. He’s going to be the most popular athlete in the biggest city in the US. Probably gonna make some pretty solid $ off endorsements.

He could blow his knee out tomorrow and not be eligible for shite.

So it’s hard to call it a bad move for him considering he wouldn’t be eligible for that contract until a year from now.

Or he could get hurt and never get another contract.

Because the Knicks have sucked so much he doesn't even have to win it all. Just look at the standing Os they got for getting blown out at home in gm 7 by a 6th seed in the 2nd rd.

And people on this board wonder why Skip Bayless and Screamin A make millions on their rabble rabble tv shows. Because look at this shite…an athlete potentially takes a pay cut to help a team financially and the board will shite on him for being dumb. Tomorrow it will bitch about LeBron taking too much money. Yall are the fools watching them and imitating for free on tiger droppings lol

Taking less money with Thibs as your coach is pretty insane.

He is dumb. Is the owner also gonna go over the cap and pay a tax to help the team?
