Within 5 years Oakland went from 3 major sports teams to 0

I assume the new Vegas stadium will have retractable roof?

Pure outdoor stadium in Vegas seems like a bad idea in July-Sept. “Dry heat” aside, 110° is miserable. And in evenings can still be in mid 90s

The place is a complete dump. SS was welcomed there a few years ago for his prison rehab. That says it all

Have you been to Las Vegas?

Have you been to Oakland?

This is the least-surprising thing in sports history.

Wait they have to play in Oakland for another season? That sucks.

I'm not needlessly trashing CA here btw and Oakland gets too much hate, but the stadium and general vibe is going to be brutal for another full zombie season. I thought they were in LV this coming season.

Would support the shite out of a team and they have the land to put the stadium next to the new football stadium. Across river on pedestrian bridge from downtown. Would crush it.

Any chance they make the playoffs and they're allowed to host a playoff game here? That would be awesome.

Threats of relocation, and blocking of said moves, are why certain areas have teams in addition to how much the owners owed the players over a collusion case.

The Tampa / St Pete market in particular got the Rays because the SF Giants were attempting to move there and MLB cut a deal to keep them in the Bay Area. I believe other teams such as the Mariners also considered such moves before getting new ownership which solidified them in those markets.

The only other move since 1972 was the Expos to DC, and that was a mix of the 1994 strike killing support in Montreal combined with one of the worst owners in baseball in Jeff Loria.

They should have forced the owner to sell as well.
