He does a sword celebration after every strikeout. The Japanese culture of respect finds this troubling and disrespectful to opponents. One of his Japanese teammates responded on his tweet with

quote:

“Don’t be an idiot. This is disrespectful. There are better ways to go about this.”

There's a lot of replies in Japanese which can be roughly translated into English with the translate feature. It's interesting to see how ingrained the respect for others is in many of the responses.

man i know a lot of people dont like Bauer, but if you go watch his youtube videos....

1) the dude outworks everyone, always has
2) he is knowledgable as frick and is always trying to learn more and expierement to find better ways

3) he puts out a shite ton of great educational stuff on baseball training, better than 99.99% of the stuff out there

his youtube stuff has made me really like him and want him to succeed.

i also think he got fricked by the whole metoo movement. all because the girl put on the hospital form that she had the injuries despite all test showing them not to be true.

Respect of others?!?!?

Foreign concept here in the US where our athletes act like A-holes and get praised.

Sportsmanship is shot, and it's starting at a young age.

He was doing these celebrations long before he got to Japan. If they didn't like it, they shouldn't have signed him. I doubt the owner of the BayStars cares because he is selling out stadiums when he starts.

I've always believed the MLB really didn't like him for exposing the sticky stuff and found a way to get him out of the league with the BDSM "assault" accusations.

That said, going over to Japan and being a showy a-hole is not a good idea.

Agree, my perception of Bauer has definitely changed after I started watching his YouTube channel.

Like the Japanese comments are way harsher than the mild translations?

he is that

and many hate the celebrations.....

guess what if you dont want him celebrating on your arse, then dont strikeout.

same with all the other unwritten rules. like pitchers getting mad when a hitter hits homerun and talks shite......dont give up the homerun

im sure some of you will say...pitcher needs to hit batter next time up or the next batter period....fine but dont get mad when the batter starts using his weapon on you or your catcher. assualt is assualt so frick it...want to be a shite head and throw the ball at me, hitting your catcher with the bat.

I agree with you, but if you say that out loud or post about it these days, you’re just “trying to take the fun out of the game”.
