Was he even eligible to play his senior year?
Our running back was ineligible to play his senior year due to his age. Typical "got held back for an advantage in sports" did more harm than good.

That can’t be true Pretty sure he would be ineligible at some point due to not having enough hours progressed towards his degree
Timmy Chang did 5 full years at Hawaii and didn't graduate until he went back in 2012 to finish up so he could be a graduate assistant.

It appears he turned 7 during kindergarten. I guess he swept all the academic awards and made honor roll.
I can't imagine being 7 and in kindergarten. I mean the physical difference had to be there and I wonder if he had any idea how he was supposed to be two years more mature and actually know how to read and do basic mathematics at that point. His real peers might have been starting multiplication and he was just being told what the numbers and letters are.

He missed the cut off. Born at the very end of October 1997.
Usually the cutoff works so you’re either the oldest or youngest kid in your class.
Turning 18 in October of 2015 would still make him one of the older kids in that 2016 class.

he got a 29 on the ACT, won back 2 back national titles at QB, made 3+ million in NIL money, didnt have to work hard academically, will make some money in the NFL, and can do whatever he wants the rest of his life.
i think that's smart, but what do i know.

My son has a kid in his grade that will graduate as a 20 year old. He was mis-diagnosed as autistic when he was 2 or 3 and spent several years in programs that didn't help him. He really does have a learning disability but has nothing to do with Autism so he didn't get the proper help until he was much older and they figured out what was going on.
As a result he was way behind. He isn't a stud athlete and is average size so most people who don't know the story don't realize he is so much older.

Bennett went to John Curtis, who knew?

Spring? Wouldn't it typically be late Summer/early Fall kids? For instance, if you're born in August, you are either going to be one of the youngest in one class or one of the oldest in the other class. The class cutoff is typically in September, I believe.
I was referring to kids that are actually held back, as in being in the grade they shouldn't be in, not ones at/very near the cutoff. Those kids that are held back are spring/summer birthdays normally. You basically never see it happen with kids born in the fall.
Bennett, due to his fall birthday, is nearly a full year older (about 9-10 months) than the kids for whom it's normally a borderline/tough decision. So even if he wasn't held back a year, he'd be one of the older kids in his (correct) graduating class. So it makes the decision to hold him back even stranger. As someone else said, given he still hasn't received his undergrad degree yet, maybe he just struggles in the classroom or something and always has, even as a child, I don't know.
If he graduated in his "correct" year, he'd be 3 months behind the oldest correct kids, 3 months ahead of the median correct kids and 9 months ahead of the youngest correct kids. Instead, he was 9 months ahead of the oldest correct kids, 15 months ahead of the median correct kids and 21 months ahead of the youngest correct kids in what ended up being his graduating class.

He'll have a beer gut while selling insurance by the time he's 30 in a few months.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Almost 0% chance a guy that got a 29 on the ACT takes over 14 semesters to graduate college.
Also almost 0% chance a guy that got a 29 would have ever been held back. Unless he had something like a medical issues?
Remember these guys go to college in the summer also. If the average student had the Athletics Counselors to schedule their classes, they would graduate in probably less than 8 semesters.

Lots of dumb people make good money and/or have nice lives.

almost 0% chance that a walk on QB whose offers were from mercer and columbia (yeah the ivy league columbia that often communicates with known idiots) wins back to back national championships
and yet, here we are
and yet, here we are

Now lets go back to his maturity and ability 2-3 years ago when the avg player his age was there. His ability is not there.
He benefited from having a great team and be redshirting his life 5 times so he was old as shite and better able to manage the game.
That's not that crazy.

I’m so tired of the “he made a lot of money playing sports so that means he’s smart” argument.
Brothas on Twitter LOVE that argument.
It’s an argument for retards.

yeah, you guys are right, he's a fricking idiot. he's one of those 5'10'' walk ons that is also dumb that ends up the starter at uga and wins 2 national titles. classic case
he has no physical tools, he's old, he's dumb, he's lucky, im not really sure what people are looking for at this point.
just some kind of justification on why their team isnt back to back champions?

Yeah, his brain was 3-4 years more developed than the other kids taking it.

He had to sit out half a game in eighth grade for parking in a teachers spot

How the frick is that possible? With a little push you can get a degree in 3 years. Eventually you could just throw darts at the class list and just luck into a degree in 5 years.
