Deadline Link

This might be more appropriate for the Book Board, but If you thought Dune was unfilmable… jeeesh. The Hyperion books are great but how the hell are they gonna make them into movies? Can’t wait to see the Shrike or the Tree of Pain on screen.

Needs to be a tv series. You can’t properly cover the pilgrims’ stories in 1 movie. Books 3 and 4 would make better movies if they weren’t so weird.

If he can pull that series off, he deserves all the trophies. That's one of the best sci-fi series ever made, but it'd take a David Lynch kind of head to pull off the visuals.

Unfilmable. Would lose too much of the book.

Kudos to Cooper.

The 2nd-4th books are massive in scope, but mostly linear in structure. If they can pull off something interesting with the first book, it should be relatively smooth sailing going forward.

Guess Cooper has all but given up on trying to make real films about real people anymore, like I know he wants to.

A Star is Born was a huge financial success, but I bet he can't get any funding for another film like that anymore and now he's turned his attention to something he knows he can at least get made.

I have faith in him. He's a good filmmaker.

Finally? Cause he’s been talking about doing this for years.

Absolutely. And my confidence is low that they’ll do the books justice.

Its just not possible. Simmons prose, particularly with the poet, is just too much of the overall appeal and greatness of the book to pull it off live action. I commend him for trying, as it is amazing source material, but there is just no way to deliver a similar experience.

Eta:I'll sure as hell watch though.

Wow, I'm shocked by this news. My favorite books. I still want to see what they do with Red Rising also.
