Underrated 90s action movie. It's not some artistic, thought provokong masterpiece with deep meaning. But it's a fun movie, and Nick Cage does well in the villain role.
My Dad liked to rent these type of movies they made in the 90s and watched them with me, so I have alot of nostalgia associated with them.

Am I misremembering this movie?

I haven't seen this movie in a long time but I thought Gary Sinese was the villian. I may be remembering incorrectly.

Cage was a dirty cop so I am assuming that is what he meant by villain.

Most DePalma movies are flawed, but worth a watch.

Sinese was the villain but the plan hedged on Cage, the dirty cop, not getting a conscience.

Maybe more of an anti-hero than a villain
He did well in his role in face/off as both villain and protagonist split.

Carla Gugino, yummy.

Cage over the top acting when walking into and during the boxing match is cinematic gold. Assuming he was coked up during filming haha

I’ll agree with you that it’s a good flick. I watched it in the past couple years when it was making its rounds on HBO.
I don’t think it was don’t action movie, though. More of a thriller or a neo-noir.

Even when nic cage was doing every shitty movie on Netflix he was still good in them. That’s largely what makes them so funny. The most ridiculous shite you’ve ever seen going on in front of you as nic cage stays totally locked into the role

I think I saw this in theaters and haven't seen it since. But thinking back, I don't remember much about it other than being fairly disappointed in it though.

Terrible movie. Not once did we wear his iconic uniform.

If he wasn't hopped up on nose candy, he was demon possessed.
Carla Gugino was paid to be a distraction.
Looks better out of the disguise!
She settled him down.

That abomination of a third act ruined the movie.
