These two were not connected. We were drafting Zion no matter what.

We let Randle walk, then traded for Favors. The Knicks gave Randle 21M a year. We traded for Favors, who made about 18M. People thought Zion and Randle couldn't play together which was never the case. We should have re-signed Randle. I was one of the only people saying this at the time. I also wasn't thrilled with the Lakers package and wanted to flip Ball/Ingram right away (due to medicals).

Trading Randle seems to have paid off for the Knicks.

Are you living under a rock?

[The New York Knicks traded Julius Randle to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Karl-Anthony Towns, along with Donte DiVincenzo and a first-round pick. This trade occurred before the 2024-25 season and has been beneficial for both teams, as they both reached the conference finals.
