With tonight's win, I didn't even realize how close Philly is to us. Gotta hope they win against DC on Wed because there is a realistic chance we fall out of the top 4 with us winning potential games against Charlotte, Miami, and Brooklyn.

This team DESPERATELY needs to shut down Zion and CJ because Philly is tanking their arse off right now. Their best scorer Quentin Grimes could potentially be out for the remaining of the season and they have a strong reasoning to get a top 5 pick to avoid their pick converting to OKC outside of the top 5 I believe.

The Pelicans remaining schedule is the following:

Fri,
Golden State (No Steph, potential win if Z or CJ is back. Likely win if both are back) W

Sun,
vs
Charlotte (Even if we tank, Lamelo will be out since they have a back to back and I believe CJ will play) W

Wed, Apr 2
@
LA Clippers ( If Z plays, real danger we can beat them since we always have their number) potential W

Fri, Apr 4
@
LA Lakers( Lakers in a rut, but they should win) L

Sun, Apr 6
vs
Milwaukee( Gianni's should take care of business, gotta hope he doesn't gets hurt) L

Tue, Apr 8
@
Brooklyn (Our tank squad should beat theirs) W

Thu, Apr 10
@
Milwaukee L

Fri, Apr 1
vs
Miami( Big game, have to hope they turn it around, potentially W) W

Sun, Apr 13
vs
Oklahoma City ( Potential W as well if they shut players down and Pels will try to send fans out the season happy) W?

6 wins realistically vs Philly schedule

Wed, Mar 26
vs
Washington
7:00 PM ET
Sat, Mar 29
vs
Miami
7:30 PM ET
Sun, Mar 30
vs
Toronto
7:30 PM ET
Tue, Apr 1
@
New York
7:30 PM ET
Thu, Apr 3
vs
Milwaukee
7:00 PM ET
Sat, Apr 5
vs
Minnesota
7:00 PM ET
Mon, Apr 7
@
Miami
7:30 PM ET
Wed, Apr 9
@
Washington
7:00 PM ET
Fri, Apr 11
vs
Atlanta
7:00 PM ET
Sun, Apr 13
vs
Chicago
1:00 PM ET

I can see them having potentially 2 Wins with Washington.

26 wins vs Philly with 25 wins. They can finish ahead of us

For Christ's sake, stop obsessing over micro-positioning in the draft lottery. Even if you finish with the worst record in the league, your chances of getting the top pick are just 14%. Your odds of getting the 5th pick, however, are 48%.

If we swap places with Philly our odds of landing the top pick go from 12.5% to 10.5%. With either the 4th or 5th worst record our odds are far better to land at pick 6 or 7 than at pick 1 or 2.

And even if we do, history shows that there's a fair chance some mid-lottery guy like Derik Queen or Collin Murray-Boyles ends up being the best player in the draft. So, stop rooting for your team to lose...every night at least.

Nobody was rooting for these assholes to lose for the last 5.5 years, but since they have proven to be a shitty group of players both playing and health wise, now people are rightfully rooting for as high of a pick as we can get in hopes that we can actually get a franchise player that can carry us to the playoffs and play in playoff games every once in awhile.

Our odds of we swap is actually 9.8% which will be a massive dip imo

It's common sense man. I don't understand why some folks are even debating this especially since we are a small market team with a franchise player that has serious health and off the court issues. Why the frick shouldn't we root for a high pick to pair with him in case if he gets hurt, have more off the court issues or request a trade? As a small market team with a cheap owner positioning yourself on getting a high draft pick is the only way you can get a superstar player here. It won't be a trade and banking on our coaching staff to develop a diamond in the rough into a superstar talent is the most unlikely lol.

Most people who don't wanna tank are either A.) don't want to be associated with a losing team temporarily so they can brag to their friends that their team is a winner/attach their team to their ego of always having to be on top, B.) Don't understand how the business and scouting side works and are willfully ignorant, or C.) only wants to be "entertained" and don't truly care about winning.

Personally I'm not into any of the choices, but I won't blame people who are unless they have a problem with me wanting to tank. In that case if they do, then frick off lol

What are you talking about?

We are 20-53 with 9 games left. We will maybe win 2 more games and finish with 60 loses. We aren't winning 5 or 6 more games. We went 3-7 our last 10. Neither the Sixers or Nets can get to 60 loses. I think we are pretty safe at 27th place.

I don't see us passing the Hornets into 28th place either. They 18-53 with 11 games left. We would need them to go 5-6 to finish with a better record than us. They might win a couple, but they shouldn't go on a streak like that.

The problem isn’t necessarily winning the lottery… it is how far we slide if we are at the back end of the flattened odds.

This season has been fricking godawful but I would rather have a decent chance of finishing in the bottom 4 and getting a good player instead of getting leaped in the lottery and ending up with a lesser prospect.

Unlikely with us winning last night, but we do have a game left against the hornets

Sixers proving they know how to tank well. They are pretty much the expert franchise when it comes to tanking. They sit Grimes for rest, a guy who would not be getting minutes without Maxey sitting.

Landing the Maine Event Cooper Flagg would make me more excited then when we got Zion. Even though I doubt Cooper Flagg would want to play here.

Worst four teams in the league this season are us, Washington, Charlotte, and Utah. That’s about 48% chance of ending up there as first overall pick.

None of those are places a young talent particularly wants to go because three of them are teams mismanaged long term and the fourth is in fricking Utah.

In short, him not wanting to play here doesn’t mean much if he isn’t willing to play chicken and threaten to play overseas rather than sign.

No American player of note has ever actually done it despite the threats of Kobe and others doing so as a bluff.

IF...the 76ers lose (at home) tomorrow night vs Washington...imo...the 76ers are basically saying that they plan on losing from here on...and will finish the season on an 0-15 streak...and a 23-59 record.

I strongly suggest the Pelicans plan their "tanking strategy"...based on that knowledge.

I will be VERY happy to just finish at 4th from the bottom...as I have little confidence that Charlotte will "allow" us to drop below them in the final standings.

Yep...I think BOTH the Nets and 76ers made strong statements tonight...that they are prepared to lose EVERY game from here on in...to improve their draft odds situation.

Now...the Pelicans have to decide if they want to match the "tankability" that these 2 teams are prepared to show down the stretch...or not

Until the Nets and 76ers win a game...which I doubt they will (especially the 76ers)...I wouldn't allow the Pels to win another game either. We COULD win 2 & still be OK...but if we mess up & win 3....we'll be at the mercy of a coin-toss...with probably both the 76ers and the Nets.

It's up to the Pels brain trust...I'm hoping they make the right decision.

When is the last time that the Pelicans “brain trust” has made the right decision?
