before this seaon, i'd agree.... after seeing his growth as a player and leader, especially since the IST, i dunno about that anymore.... he's clearly taken the helm, and this team needs to be built to suit his strengths, if we expect to be better than we are right now...

Taking the Suns to 6 was fun as frick. The stadium atmosphere brought back memories of the 2008 playoffs.

that's all fine and dandy.... i think a large portion of the fanbase would like for us to move past being a team thats "just happy to be there"

And how does getting the 14th pick instead of the 21st pick achieve that?

Yes technically true but this year when this team has performed its best its when it centered around Zion.

It’ll be interesting to see how successful they can be this year switching to a BI centric offense quickly and if its as succesful like it was against the suns. I worry though that we may not see peak BI before he got hurt.

you're being too confident about your team losing on a message board for said team.

like i said, perceived negativity... and i'm not being negative, i'm proud of the strides that this team has made, as frustrating as this season has been... i'm being realistic... OKC has been in the top 3 in the West pretty much all season... we struggled to maintain our grip on the 6 seed, and that was with a healthy Zion...

hey, i absolutely could be wrong again, but you gotta admit, this is pretty David vs. Goliath and David done run out of rocks....

If I had to guess, we probably won't win tomorrow. But I'd rather we do.

If the reports of BI being a bitch last game are true, he's getting traded this offseason regardless.

I'd rather us at least make the playoffs just to show that at least some of my investment emotionally and financially this season was worth it.

Unfortunately lot of that investment sure was tied to pels but specifically to Zion succeeding as a pelican. My dreams for this season died when he got hurt. But again I get your point.

I don’t know what to expect. This team fights and responds when dealt with adversity so it wouldn’t surprise me if they won. But like you said 2 days doesn’t all of sudden make BI feel better mentally about being benched and I just don’t think hes where he needs to be physically as well.

This whole back-and-forth started about you betting with someone that we lose tomorrow.

You're all over the place.

collapsing down the stretch, missing the playoffs, etc may force coaching changes....

different coaching, possibly better player development and utilization... in addition to whatever we choose to do with the roster this offseason, in the meantime

at some point, the organization and it's fans need to move past the "lets just at least get to the postseason" bullshite... that complacency breeds more and more mediocrity, and we've lost too many great players in the past b/c of that mentality, that i'd rather not have to see it all over again with Zion

Does a top 14th pick really help this team?

Its slightly more useful in a trade which is what the convo should really be about.

Not enough to not make the playoffs though

that's not anything that anyone here can absolutely KNOW... i do know we are all pretty keen on Trey Murphy, for example, and he was available at 14, but not 21... i'd rather have as many options to get better, long term, as possible, and if we drop 7 spots, that's 7 potential options we no longer have

but, just curious, how does a 1st round exit help this team?

Serious question though. Playoffs or not, the way this season is going to end- do you think Gayle even thinks about the luxury tax next season? I think as soon as we fell to the play-in, that became a “no.”

Which goes back to Willie being the symptom of the problem and not the problem and why making the playoffs gets us just as close to making the final in the future than not making the playoffs does.

Fact of the matter is, we've always been one of the worst run franchises since NOLA got the team to the point where this current ownership is, by far, the most stable ownership the franchise has had compared to the previous ones... yet it's still holding the franchise back.
