An out-of-state blockchain engineer has agreed to pay $822,922 after the Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that he engaged in a scheme to defraud investors in Game Coin, a cryptocurrency asset offered and sold as a security predominantly to investors residing in or around Baton Rouge.
Game Coin was launched in 2021 by Baton Rouge entrepreneurs, including David Mahler, who are not named in the lawsuit. The startup aimed to allow amateur athletes to create their own digital sports cards which could then be bought and sold on a web-based marketplace using its Game Coin—or GME—token.
This must be the rebrand Moscona was talking about

Usually you can trust the financial advice you get from the Livingston Parish roofing community.

I did not invest in this but I know people that did.
First of all, I know very little about crypto. It's completely out of my wheelhouse. I've even asked ChatGPT to explain it to me like I'm 8 and I still don't get it. Luckily I think that may have saved my arse because people were coming up to me, telling me to buy it hand over fist.
I did not understand it, or digital wallets, or blockchain, or whatever so I was like "Sounds scammy. But good luck.." And that was that.
Someone I follow on FB though who knows a great deal about cryptocurrency said he'd be hesitant to buy it and HOLY shite did he get attacked for it. Every person who apparently has ever met David Mahler was wrapped up in it. They were like "HE'S A GREAT GUY!" and "HE DONATES TO CHARITY" and all this shite. Within months, the thing had cratered.
Today I know a few people that lost tens of thousands of dollars in this. I don't know if I can really feel sorry for them because it never, ever sounded even remotely legit but it is what it is. If you do a little digging, you'll see all kinds of wild stories about Lambo's burning up in parking lots. Tales of boats, parties, bottle service, suites at sporting events, etc. It was apparently pretty nuts - assuming you were at the top of the pyramid.
Either way, I feel like whomever started it (or whomever was hocking it here in BR the hardest) should probably either have to pay massive restitution or serve some jailtime.

i know a ton about crypto and i told people on the money board who were up like 100k to sell. begged them to....they wouldnt listen.
i wouldnt call it a scam though...it just really didnt have a utility despite what people claimed and eventually i knew the guys who created it would cash out.
all the alt coins that are similar to this...you use them like penny stocks that you know could be rug pulled at any time.

Sounds like you said it wasn’t a scam, then perfectly defined fraud afterwards

On another note, was sconie sending out cease and desists over people calling him out over this? Would love to see someone fight it. You’d know you were getting somewhere if dad had to intervene.

I was up a good little bit but didn’t want to pull a bunch and cause panic selling.
