Update She is a Tenneesee Resident! NOT FROM LOUISIANA
The New Orleans coroner identified the victim as Patrick Murphy, 62. He was the owner of Murphy Jewelers, located a couple hours north of Philadelphia.
A worker at the Empress Hotel in the 1300 block of Esplanade Avenue found Murphy in bed. A close friend told us Murphy and his wife were visiting New Orleans during the busy Carnival season.
Patrick Murphy, owner of Murphy Jewelers in Schuylkill County, had three shops in Pennsylvania.
Murphy was in New Orleans with his wife, according to the report.
NOLA Woman, originally deemed person of interest, now a suspect in Treme murder
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The victim of a fatal stabbing at a Treme neighborhood has been identified as a prominent businessman from Pennsylvania, according to a report.
Patrick Murphy, 62, was found dead in The Empress Hotel on the 1300 block of Ursulines Ave. on Thursday afternoon. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity on Friday.
His cause of death was “sharp force injuries.” He was found dead lying in a bed, according to the report.
New Orleans police believe Megan Hall, 25, killed him at the hotel. She is wanted for second-degree murder.
According to Jefferson Parish court records, Hall was arrested for prostitution in 2014 and 2017. Hall also has a criminal history in Tennessee for parole violations and theft of property.

So, she was a witness? Maybe they ordered in?

If I had to guess, from the black around her eyes, I would say there is a high probability she is an addict.

That is a sketchy arse hotel. It was on an episode of Hotel Impossible, and they straight up admitted it’s full of crack heads.

Bet the wife said "here, cut your cocaine with this". Couple of hours later after some anal Mardi Gras beadings, call girl leaves 400 to the plus side. Wife stabs husband and after calling side piece - who is headed to Telluride - calls police to report the tragedy. Megan won't have an alibi.

That doesn't look like much of a hotel.

This episode was just on recently. The lady and her sons that owned were given an opportunity to overhaul the place and the lady didn’t want to do it. The deal was it they would remodel it and raise the rates and the lady was reluctant to do so and wanted to keep the rates at $50.00 per night. They finally got her to turn it over to her sons and change the name to the Heritage House but evidently it never happened.

She looks like a goddamn raccoon.
Someone’s going to walk into the room with her, think she’s a burglar, and shoot her twice.

The one question I have now that I have done some research on the subject is did the Empress Hotel keep her $10 stained sheet deposit? I have to think that blood on the sheets is an automatic forfeiture of the sheet stain non-refundable deposit policy. Clearly though this businessman was getting his crack fix (or heroin fix on) given the reviews of this hotel.

Random Reviews of the Empress Hotel
"I have been in cleanest places in India that were also low-budget."
"The Hotel was a dump so much so as to be comical. Rooms lack door knobs Mattress sealed in a big plastic bag. Door was unevenly cut at the base you could lay on the floor and look into the hall. The one window was give or take a foot wide and about 5 feet off the ground. View of the junk in someones back yard (literally Junk). Fake wood floor planks cut to improper lengths. Bathroom sink full of cigarette burns sitting on a pedestal homemade of scrap wood. Wifi was a no go. Heater was a space heater. Light light with a sketchy looking extension cord. Cigarette burns in a dollar store comforter . Walls so thing I literally knew my neighbors daily plans This place wouldn't get a single star on a five star system. Only structure I ever stayed at that was worse was a shed converted to a room for Sturgis. But read the positives"
"What a disgusting mess of a disaster this place is.
I've stayed in some pretty 'budget' places before but this is by far the worst."
"Trashy, cheap, uncomfortable bed with plastic on bed, unsafe door, flop house that gouges tourists, $39 room worth half, musty and moldy smell, extremely outdated, rude staff,"
"Room with metal door with dead bolt was a little creepy - but it is New Orleans! LOL No closet either. Very small and old building. Mattress covered with a sheet of plastic was BADLY stained even had pools of blood."
"That was, until we realized we were laying in a bed next to a crack pipe. Since we are not familiar with the crack industry, we didn't realize what it was and PICKED IT UP. We were at a loss for words and went to speak to the employees. As if it couldn't get worse, they LAUGHED IN OUT FACES. Saying things like "nobody was in that room today" or "how didn't you notice before"."
"They check you in by reading you a list of bizarre rules that are clearly for scumbags but also some that are just unheard of (no visitors in your room without paying a fee?). Totally wild. They took a $10 cash deposit instead of just taking a card for incidentals."
