Baton Rouge I-10/I-12 switch approaching College Dr exit

No loop for you sir.

It keeps Nissan and Charger/Challenger drivers from swerving across five lanes at the last second to exit at College.

So much safer. Once finished, no one will have to cross lanes to exit.

Right now it makes no sense, because instead of people from 10 having to go all the way across lanes to get off on College, now 12 has to do that. I think the DOTD just wanted the I-12 drivers to understand what us I-10 drivers have been dealing with for years, before having it all fixed.

When it is finished, 12 exiters will continue strait before the crossover like a normal exit.
Notice the orange lane...

Are you just angry because it changed? I drove it yesterday from I-10 and my thought was “Damn, this is nice”

They opened that one this Wednesday. OP is mad that this change didn't magically erase traffic from everywhere else in BR

What did those newly planted trees accomplish?

They will become a tree removal project when the lanes are widened in the next project in 2050. Either that or they will become target practice for all the cars that exit the roadway.

They can do all everything they can think of, but as long as the Mississippi River Bridge only has two lanes on each side, it will not fix anything. The only way to fix that problem is to reduce the amount of traffic. The way you reduce traffic is provide another option. There needs to be something that connects Iberville, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Ascension and Livingston Parish.

Ideally, this will separate the "work traffic" with the "passing through" traffic.

The ferry is another option, but its not ideal. Its much better when they run to boats, but you can't rely on it 100% of the time. It doesn't take much for things to get backed up, etc. And all of the bullshite about funding or whatever else they say.. is bullshite, because government seems to always find the money to build things those in power want built. They make things happen when its in their best interest.
