GM produced the only vehicle I’ve ever had substantial issues with
Bought a new Silverado in 16
Paint randomly began peeling off one day while I was washing it. Issue others noted with these model years, but was never addressed
Had a brake pump issue that finally had a recall that would leave my brakes unreliable and unresponsive when I needed them most that took 3-4 years of having the issue before they diagnosed and resolved it.
Traded it in for a jeep, amazing that the jeep is providing less issues

Precisely why I decided to get a 2018 rather than a newer model. The engine issues of the 2018 exist, sure, but not nearly as rampant as anything post-2020.

Another GM bankruptcy coming soon.

things were built for the owner to maintain..
Now they're built to be brought in to the dealership where they can get more out of the owner.
Not a single greaseable joint from the factory. Oddly enough the aftermarket joints have grease zerks

Luckily I've been waiting to buy. GMC 6.2L Yukon is my go to. I'm on my third and would have been my fourth.

I know 3 people who have had this engine blow up first 2000 miles
They went from one of the most dependable v8 engines to this garbage to get an extra 2 mpg

I wonder why 2020 is excluded. It’s part of the new body style.

They put dynamic fuel management on all of them. Aside from this issue, the biggest failure to date has been these dumb arse cylinder shut off lifters.

Naw. The 5.3 has been solid.
Trannies, well, different story.

This is not good news for GM. Those engines were bad enough with the failure prone DOD/AFM system. Now some are not even making it a few hundred miles before cratering the rod bearings.
They will continue this way until the govt rolls back some of the efficieny mandates. If GM can get rid of DFM the lifter and cam issues go away.

That's only because the feds are pissing on them.

In the market now and seriously considering moving up the 2500 to avoid this 5.3/6.2 bullshite altogether.
Only other choice is an F-150 with the 5.0 right now.
Not in love with either of them.

And that's why Cadillac SUVs depreciate so quickly

How do you eff up one of the most powerful, reliable, fuel-efficient engines ever?
Probably by sourcing a crankshaft made of aluminum from Mexico.
And then assembling it all with UAW union tards.

my wife has had two of those and although comfortable as can be they both seemed to fall apart pretty rapidly, no engine issues though(these were a few years back)

my neice's husband works for some dealership in Lake Charles area, and told me about this a year or two back. Said the engines were complete shite. Like they were designed and made by children.

And pretty much all those issues are caused by AFM. Delete that and almost all of the problems go away. Now those 8 speed transmissions...
