It sucks most for my son. I had 45 good years with him, but my son should have had another decade or more with his grandpa.

Having On the Red River and Heaven Passing Through on the same album shows how unbelievable Felker is as a song writer.

Was visiting my folks a few weeks ago and it hit me how much my dad looks like my grandpa did.

Partner, my dad had 36 years with his dad, I had 5 of those with my pop and my dad. I could have 27 years like I did wirh my other grandfather. It’d never be enough time. I’d give absolutely anything to have them here watching their great grandchildren.

Truth. He is the best songwriter in the world right now. The whole damn album is a masterpiece.

Heck of a songwriter. He puts you right into the song with his detailed lyrics.
For example: Well the wind blew through the wing vents, it was clear and fresh and cold

And wrapped him in a Carhartt coat she found out in my ride

Being a dad makes life so much more vivid and it helps you look at everything in a completely different way. It gives meaning and purpose to everything you do. The responsibility is a blessing. I will forever be grateful to my Maker for what I have. And I am grateful to have had a great father.

I just asked my boy what it feels like on my shoulders and he said he feels like a giraffe.

Cry me a river. While you feel sorry for yourself about it and hold it against him for your little pity party, he did it for you. You ever stop feeling sorry for yourself long enough to think about that? Grow up.

Damn dude I didn't mean to sound like I was talking crap about him. I respect the hell out of my dad.. That's just all he knew...great man but always worked. Nothing wrong with that, I just choose to spend more time with my kids than he did.

So many good lines in his songs and its impossible for me to pick.

"I was beginning to deal with it ending
The old dog had pointed while part of me died
Then a flutter of feathers, and a shotgun to shoulder
I thought of the fourth of July
Shed be home on the fourth of July
Bet we'd dance on the fourth of July"

Followed by epic fiddle riff

My favorite concert experience I can recall is getting my face blasted off by the opening of the bird hunters.
