Just bought a vehicle. Can I get an inspection sticker with the temporary/ paper plate? Dealer said they won't have permanent plate for another couple of weeks.

Go back to the dealer and have them give you a sticker.

Step A - find a dead cat
Step B - swing cat corpse around head
Step C - Locate inspection sticker station based on dead cat hitting it

I just wait until my plate and registration come in the mail before I get the inspection sticker

Interesting. I've never had this experience. I've always been told that my temporary plate served as the brake tag until I got the official plate.

I have never had this happen
I am unaware of any dealerships near me that provide the brake tag/inspection sticker
I got my brake tag/inspection sticker with my temporary plate and paperwork from dealership 1 week after purchase from a place that just does brake tag/inspection stickers

Dealer most likely gets billed by the place.
I’ve never gotten a new car without one. Some dealers cannot out stickers on used cars, only new.

Recently got a new car and it didn’t have and inspection sticker. I’m not going to get one either. Eventually those waste of time stickers will go away and they’ll just add that $18 to something else.
No one in the state actually does what is supposed to be done for the actual inspection. It’s just a fee and a sticker, which wastes everyone’s time.

My last two NEW cars were bought in Louisiana to a Louisiana registration and both of them came from the dealership with inspection sticker and temporary plates. I picked up permanent plates a few days later from the dealership.
The dealership would not inspect the car after purchase, though, as I learned when I asked them to inspect it while doing routine maintenance the next year.
USED cars may be different, though.

I have never purchased a used car. Bryan Chevy on Airline did not put "inspection stickers" on anything I have ever purchased from them. Also purchased a new truck from Sewell shortly after Katrina, did not get one then either.
