On November 8, 1923, Adolf Hitler and his drinking buddies staged a failed insurrection in Munich, an event we know as the Beer Hall Putsch.

It's how Mike Tyson says puss.

Means something similar to "Coup" or "uprising."

Later that evening on the OT: What is with guys who wear boots up to their knees?

Hermann Goering was only 30, and already a fat tub of lard. Hitler was just 34.

A lot of significant events in modern German history occurred in November. My theory is people were busy enjoying themselves in the summer. When the weather turned bad they got discontented and pissed off.

what always amazed me about this is that He lead this failed coup, and then later came to power.

There were a bunch of evil people in that photo.
If only some Commie would have had some hand grenades. He would have changed history.

He was literally a homeless bum before WWI. In the army nobody liked him because he was such a weirdo. Yet less than 15 years later he's leading Germany. It's bizarre.

But not necessarily in a better way. Germany was going authoritarian no matter what. We know what we got with Nazism. I'm not convinced a Red Germany would have been an improvement. Obviously some really awful things wouldn't have happened, but some other really awful things would have happened.

yeah you also hear such wildly conflicting acounts. Sometimes historian just talk about his charisma and how drawn in people were and sometimes they’re like “most people thought he was a ranting lunatic”
it’s also amazing how lame and worthless most of the top Nazis were before their rise to power.
Goebbels was a skinny dweeb with a. club foot who couldn’t get girls and was like a historical literature major.
Himmler was scrawny and couldn’t get into the military.
Goring was doing flying stunt shows after WWI until people lost interest in them.
