Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - This week marks the 26th anniversary of the murders of three young people at the convenience store that used to be known as KK’s Corner. The case stays in the public eye, but interest was heightened this year when the only person ever arrested and convicted in the case came close to being released from prison.

July 6th, 1997- Stacie Reeves, Marty LeBouef, and Nicole Guidry were shot to death in the cooler at KK’s Corner. Ultimately Thomas Frank Cisco was arrested and convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and jurors agreed he deserved the death penalty.

Later an appeal court found Cisco waived a conflict with his defense attorney without fully appreciating the conflict.

His attorney Evelynn Oubre had represented chief investigator Lucky Delouche on a personal matter. Cisco’s conviction was thrown out.

The case was referred to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office who agreed to a plea deal. Cisco would plead to three counts of manslaughter and be sentenced to 90 years.

Wasn’t it the sheriff’s son that was suspected?

This is from an old TD thread about it

quote:

I haven't talked about this for a long time, but this past weekend marks the 20th Anniversary of the KKs Corner murders in Lake Charles, Louisiana. On July 6, 1997, Stacie Reeves, Marty LeBouef, and 14 year old Nicole Guidry were shot in the back of their head, execution style, while on their knees within the convenience store cooler. One man was convicted of the murders.

I haven't talked about this in a very long time, but I feel obligated to share their story with you today. As the family has started a campaign recently to reopen the case, they are correct that a cover-up occurred!!!

I dedicated many years of my life uncovering the truth about this case.. HERE IS THE SHORT VERSION, please research and share.
(Current Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon, pictured below, was the Special Agent for the FBI who helped investigate the case.)
For close to twenty years, then Sheriff Wayne McElveen and his son, Richard, along with numerous other law enforcement officials, operated a cocaine distribution network which, in part, consisted of corrupt deputies confiscating drugs off of Interstate 10 and then stealing them out of the evidence and then using pawns to sale them back to locals. The pawns usually ended up dead, thus the JD8.
The LACE Program in Jeff Davis Parish provided the means, mostly. They would wait to pull over large drug shipments along I 10 in JDP, easier to steal the drugs. That's the reason McElveen controlled that parish and it became the most corrupt.
Stacie Reeves' very close friend, Kevin Able, failed to pay Richard McElveen drug money he owed so Richard and a few guys kicked in his door a few weeks before the murders at KKs and murdered him. They made a poor attempt to make it look like a sucide, as he was shot in the head but was found dead with a very large TV on his chest.

Stacie Reeves knew that Richard McElveen murdered her friend because Richard was over heard by several witnesses at a night club a week earlier telling Kevin that he was going to kill him if he didn't pay. Kevin and Stacie got a gun shortly thereafter for protection. Not only did the sheriff's drug cartel sale drugs, but they frequently used acid and other drugs which subdued the conscious.
After Kevin was murdered, Stacie contact the Louisiana State Police to tell them that Richard murdered him. Sheriff McElveen found out and told Richard. They began planning her murder.

On the evening of the murder, Stacie believed they were planning to kill her at the store so she asked Nicole to stay with her at work thinking they would not try anything around a 14 yo girl. She was dead wrong!

Banking that the firewoks would mask the gun shots, Richard enlisted the store manager, Sherwood Carpenter, (who after the murders got a job as Head of Security at Harrah's casino) who instructed other accomplises on how to disable the alarm, cut three wires while not cutting the fourth. After closing, they entered the store and murdered them, execution style. A witness who feared for his life reported to police that he tried to enter the store during the murders but was told by Richard who was guarding the door that he didn't want "any of this".

Right after the murders, a news paper delivery man, Mr. Jerry Lynn Peters, told police the next day that he, while waiting to start his paper route, witnessed an unmarked police car pulling up and someone coming out of hiding from another vehicle parked nearby and throwing a paper bag inside the trunk before both vehicles sped away. He also stated that he spoke with Sherwood Carpenter at the crime scene that morning and that Sherwood tried to convince him not to talk to the police about what he witnessed. Most importantly, that he saw a greenish sports car with a hatchback, very similar to the type Richard was known to drive. MR. PETERS KNEW IN HIS HEART THAT HE HAD WITNESSED THE MURDERS FLEEING THE SCENE.

Mr. Peters, in a sworn statement, also said that Sherwood Carpenter told him that he knew, without any doubt, that Lassiter was not involved because he was close friends with him. How would Sherwood know who was involved and why would he attempt to discourage him from talking to the police?
Also, Sherwood Carpenter was suppose to work that night, but choose instead to stay on the phone with Stacie Reeves until closing time, till just before the murders occurred.

Then a Jennings City Cop, Johnny Lassister, was very good friends with Richard, he lived in the closest residence to KKs. His bedroom, along with his roomates Ken Wilson, window faced the entrance to the store and thats is where I believe they conducted surveillance of the store. Richards people sold drugs out of it prior to the murders.

So, everyone within law enforcement at that time knew that Richard orchestrated the assination of Stacie to silence her, including current police chief Don Dixon who owes his job to the most powerful man in SW Louisiana, Sheriff McElveen, along with almost everone else in govenment. But they were, and are, afraid to talk. They framed a drifter for the murders. FBI Agent Don Dixon assisted with brain fricking the poor kid and helped Richard beat a lie detector test.

FWIW, this has long been rumored as have other allegations involving the same people and other crimes. Not saying any of it is true or not. Just sharing the conspiracy theory

Cisco is the only one ever arrested and debate continues about the identity of the other man involved. Many thought it was the former sheriff’s son.

“He was thoroughly investigated by the task force. He had an alibi of being at Big Lake at a party. Every witness was interviewed. They said, ‘Yes, he was with us.” said Bryant.

I knew the owner of the store well. He was pretty devastated by the murders. I felt so bad for him because he is such an awesome dude.

Take enough drugs and you probably can’t remember what time it was. And I doubt a lot of those people are alive today one way or another.

As a resident of Roanoke during this period, it amazes me just how much has come to light. One of the top JDP LACE cops was a good friend of mine. He died tragically around this time in a roll over accident while on patrol. Makes me wonder if he knew too much and got eliminated.
