re: Who would win in a fight – grizzly bear or gorilla (poth in their prime)?

What if there are huge rocks around? Couldn't a gorilla pick up a 200lb rock and start bashing the bear in the head? Also, isn't a gorilla faster? Could it get behind it and choke it to death?

No. The grizzly bear would probably spend a few minutes confused about why this annoying monkey was fricking with it, and then get mad and kill it swat it, eat a few bites while it was still alive, and then go waddle around like a big lazy racoon until it decided to frick something else up.

No. Grizzly can run over 30mph.

If you got the bears special life preservers so they wouldn't drown, how many floating grizzlies would it take to kill a 20 ft great white shark swimming in the ocean?

Grizzly, but I wanted to know what would happen if you threw a Burmese Python into the mix....
Burmese Python vs. Grizzly Bear
The python’s got length (12-18 feet, 100-200 pounds) and constriction, while the grizzly’s a hulking predator (400-790 pounds, claws, 975 PSI bite). If the snake strikes first, wrapping around the bear’s torso or neck, it could try to squeeze the life out of it—constriction can hit over 6 PSI, enough to kill large prey. But the bear’s thick fur and fat layer might blunt that, and its claws could rip the python apart mid-wrap. A grizzly’s strong enough to pry itself free or just bite through the snake’s body—bears have been known to eat snakes. In an open fight, the python’s too slow and vulnerable; the bear’s power wins. Grizzly takes it 9 out of 10 times, with the python maybe winning if it gets a perfect ambush on a smaller bear.
Burmese Python vs. Gorilla
Here’s the snake (100-200 pounds) against a silverback gorilla (300-430 pounds, 1,300 PSI bite, insane strength). The python’s best move is to coil around the gorilla and constrict, targeting its chest or neck. If it locks in, it could theoretically suffocate the gorilla over minutes. But gorillas are smart and explosive—they could grab the snake, smash it against the ground, or tear it off with raw muscle power (lifting 1,700 pounds is no joke). The python’s not fast enough to dodge a charging gorilla, and its scales won’t stop a crushing bite or pounding fists. Gorilla wins 8 out of 10 times, with the python scoring a rare victory if it catches the gorilla off-guard and holds on.
Grizzly Bear vs. Gorilla
This is the heavyweight clash. Grizzly (400-790 pounds, claws, speed) vs. gorilla (300-430 pounds, agility, strength). The bear’s got reach with 4-inch claws and a bite that crushes bone, plus durability from its bulk. The gorilla’s got power—lifting double its weight and a bite to match—and can maneuver better up close. If the gorilla lands a flurry of blows to the bear’s head or eyes, it might stun it or do real damage. But the grizzly’s used to fighting predators; it could tank those hits and retaliate with a swipe that’d rip flesh or a bite that ends it. The bear’s size and combat experience tip the scales. Grizzly wins 7 out of 10 times, with the gorilla taking some rounds if it fights smart and gets lucky.
Bottom Line
Grizzly bear beats Burmese python.
Gorilla beats Burmese python.
Grizzly bear beats gorilla.
The grizzly comes out on top overall, but each fight’s got its nuances. What do you think—any tweaks to the setup you’d throw in?

Gorillas have demonstrated very little tool use in the wild. It would be very unlikely for a gorilla to conceive the notion of using a rock as a weapon. That though may occur to a chimp or an orangutan, but the physical gaps between the bear and the smaller apes is much greater.

Full size bull elephant is the only thing in its neigborhood IMO.
They've recorded male african elephants at 23,000 pounds and thirteen feet tall.
Most male grizzlies are 700-800 pounds.
While the grizzly bear has claws, when you're talking about a weight discrepancy of 20k pounds that could be a problem for the bear, especially when the elephant has tusks.

At least it's not another thread about Aaron Judge.

Grizzly and it would be rather quick.

Grizzly wins, easily. This shouldn't be a question. A better question is Tiger v Lion. Tiger because of hind leg strength allowing it to stand and swipe with front paws in large volleys, but the mane on a lion makes a big difference. If a lion rushes in while a Tiger is on its back two legs, could be game over for a tiger.
The best question is MMA fighter v chimp. I still say a spinning back kick from MMA fighter and it's game over for the chimp. They are shorter and smaller. Ideal for a spinning back kick. Instant fatality. Planet of the Apes will never happen as long as we learn the spinning back kick.

Siberian Tiger will dispatch with a silverback quickly as well.

Gorillas can wield weapons. Something to consider.

This would be like putting Tyson Fury in the Feather weight class.

How about a giraffe vs the grizzly bear. I recently saw a giraffe smash the shite out of some large animal and was pretty surprised at how agile and explosive it was.

Ive said this a few times - nothing on land today can frick with a grizzly bear.
Elephant
Rhino
Hippo
Water Buffalo
I think all 3 would give a grizzly a serious fight simply due to size.
