Stupid OP. My dad is 70 and has handled using a Windows-based PC and an Android tablet pretty much on his own. Rarely has to ask me for any help.

"doing it themselves",

doesn't really equate to your premise, but I'm old, and I operate a near 800k lb. computer at work that costs over $300mil and can travel at close to 600mph, so take that and snap chat it up your punk arse

Forcasting and meterology are leaps and bounds above what they were in the 70s

You just wait. The older I get the easier it is to fall behind as other responsibilities take up my attention and time.

Change is expensive, there is a cost to learning new things. Younger people don't have sunk cost in the old ways so the relative cost to learning new things is lower.

It's really all about lack of experience and not seeing enough value in newer things.

Who do you think created all the technology your "technology" runs on?

I’m amazed every time that I think about the fact that the iPhone I carry around has more computer power than the rocket that took the first man to the moon (yeah, I believe that happened) and can give me an answer to pretty much any question that I ask it.

But I often miss the days of being able to “disappear”. Back in the late 7os and early 80s when I was in a trial that lasted a few days, I could hide out because no one could get me during working hours.

Now, I come out of court and have text messages, emails, and voice mails which need responses on that amazing machine in my pocket. The days of being able to hide out have been taken from us. I find that sad.

Did you just come to the internet to whine about old people who whine about technology?

I’m in my 30’s and already feel like technology is quickly outpacing my ability to keep up (or I quit caring about trying to).

This is the answer. It's new to them and they don't care enough to learn it.

Kill yourself, before you become one of those people. You obviously don't have the brainpower to adapt to the future.
