Does the 1980 October surprise story being validated change your views of Reagan?

For those not familiar - members of the Reagan/Bush administration met with the Iranians in Madrid and asked them not to release the hostages until Carter was out of office to give Reagan an easy political victory early in his presidency. Additionally they promised armaments to the Iranians that the Israelis would deliver.

This was long thought to be a rumor but was later confirmed by former Texas Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes who verified the claims.

I would say that is treason and I can no longer respect Reagan.

I, for one, am shocked that you would not have respect for one of the greatest presidents in US History. Especially over something that likely happened when you weren't born, and now is "coming out" after many of the players are dead.

Yeah, I can't believe this LOLOLOLOLOL

Oh, and 15 pages of attention

Our government lies to us.

You can respect different president's for different things, but it's been a long time since any of them have been honest.

Because the Lt. Gov. Of Texas.would absolutely be in a position to verify this.

I'm sure his family is crushed by your decision.

The only saving grace you have is they have no knowledge of your lack of credibility here on TD

I served under President Reagan and had tremendous respect for him. I’ve never heard this and find it extremely difficult to believe.

Well I guess that settles it. No way it can be true if you've never heard it.

I mean Reagan later got caught illegally selling weapons to the Iranians and that's widely known.

Would it be that shocking if he was also involved with this? And yes the Bushes are pieces of shite and may have had a heavy hand in both incidents.

it was sarcasm...

Progressives are still celebrating Reagan's death many years after the fact. I think if they could dig him up and kill him again they would.
