members of the Reagan/Bush administration met with the Iranians in Madrid and asked them not to release the hostages until Carter was out of office to give Reagan an easy political victory early in his presidency.
1) That is a lie. Not debatable. It is a lie. PERIOD!
2) There may be allegations that individuals associated with Reagan met wit Iranians ... just as there are allegations DJT paid hooker to pee on a bed in Moscow.
3) There is ZERO proof of either.
4) Regan blew all 4-doors off of Carter's inept 1980 effort.
5) The Iranians wanted no part of RR

I was only 3 at the time, but how would Reagan/Bush have an administration the month before the election? What positions did Reagan and Bush hold in October 1980 that gave them access to do any negotiations?

It’s not a surprise. They were literally released the exact hour Reagan was sworn in. Like Nixon trying to sabotage Vietnam peace talks in 1968, Reagan was up to some dirty tricks himself. And he absolutely knew about Iran Contra.

I would say that is treason and I can no longer respect Reagan.

I would vote Nixon today just for being an actual POTUS and focused on foreign policy and letting Congress deal with the US policy.

Reagan was puppet and a bad actor to boot. He just said what people wanted to hear and ignored what American needed at the time

Iran
South America
Long term locked care facilities ended, now we have a homeless problem
First R POTUS to give the far right loonies jobs and power
Ended alternative energy research and progress for 50 years
Ended the best mental health bill in US history, now we have shooters everywhere
Took credit for Skunk Works of Nixon & Carter
Ballooned US debt not seen since war debt of WWII
Ended "Fairness Doctrine" and replaced news with fake infotainment
Ended the Space Race in favor of Fake Christians & Fake Patriots
Let Wall Street export US jobs to South America then Asia

On top of all that he was a B or C grade actor at best (no talent)

IKE was tip top, the John Birchers (extreme right) called him a communist
Nixon was solid
Ford was saddled with 70's Oil Shocks (Carter too)
Bush Sr was solid
Shrub was lame
DJT is self serving

Pretty much the South and Southwest.

Many who call old Republicans RiNO's are the actual RiNO's
Many who blame the Democrats for everything have Democrat roots
MAGA was Regan, modern MAGA is anything but "Classic" MAGA

being validated

quote:

Involvement in the Iran hostage crisis edit In March 2023, motivated by news of Jimmy Carter's hospice care, Barnes corroborated the 1980 October Surprise theory by telling journalist Peter Baker of The New York Times that in the summer of 1980 he was unwittingly involved in relaying promises from Reagan campaign officials to ask Iranian officials to withhold release of the hostages they held until after the 1980 presidential elections.

According to Barnes, in the summer of 1980 he accompanied former Texas governor and a former candidate in the 1980 presidential election, John Connally, on a trip to several Middle Eastern countries which records indicate to have included Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel.

Barnes claimed in 2023 that during the trip Connally would promote Ronald Reagan's candidacy to leaders of those countries, and told those leaders (except for the leaders in Israel) ‘It would be very smart for you to pass the word to the Iranians to wait until after this general election is over.’

Barnes asserted that he did not know in advance that Connally would say that on the trip, and believed that Connally was positioning himself for a nomination by a future Reagan Administration for either Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense.

Reagan did offer Connally the position of Secretary of Energy, but Connally declined. Barnes also claimed that shortly after returning to the United States, Connally reported on their trip to William J. Casey, who was chairman of Reagan's campaign, and later Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

A note in Connally's files confirms that he had contact with the Reagan camp early during the trip.[19] Reactions among the former hostages to Barnes' 2023 revelations were mixed. One former hostage criticized Barnes for not coming forward for more than 40 years. Others either did not believe Barnes' account, or said that Barnes confirmed their suspicions as to what went on behind the scenes.[20]

This is true. They announced when the plane carrying the hostages crossed the border which was right after inauguration. The iran conta began. Usa sold weapons to iran through Israel because they were in a war with Iraq. Recently found out Jeffrey epstein was involved. USA also sold their puppet saddam Hussain precursors to make poison gas which they used on Iranian soldiers. Usa gave iraq satellite images of where the Iranians were. I think this was all cia and Reagan probably didn't know anything. But usa did alot of shady stuff.

I’m not MAGA. I’m also not a soy leftist. There is nothing weaker and more thin skinned than MAGA on here. Certainly not a ‘moderate’ either. I’m just able to think for myself and not be a hypocrite or worship an obese 80 year old.

This has been rumored since the Reagan v Carter election. Complete with HW Bush flying in an SR-71 to the meeting so as to not be missed or miss campaign time.

I asked one of my instructors in CCT school about this rumor in 1990. He was on Eagle Claw and knew everything about the hostage crisis damn near. His response left no doubt t in my mind this is complete and utter bullshite.

You just called Reagan "their side" so the assumption is you're a fig lefty unless you explain yourself.

Its funny because deep down they know its true...but they want to believe their propaganda was true. So pathetic and sad. Never red pilled, a part of a team.
