Same here. I'm not a fan of variety so am buying the same basic stuff. No need to get out the calculator. What was around $130-140 in 2020 is now $200-230.

Don't know what kind of fricking bread they are buying but the bread I buy (Nature's Own) is $6.99

These numbers are fake bullshite inflation numbers - They are not reality. They took the absolute cheapest shite and added more cheap bullshite to it

It's almost like

Fruit Juice (Koo-Aid prices)

It's all bullshite

Look at average profit margins of the big food producers over the last 30-40 years and then look at the margins in 2022 and 2023. There’s some increased cost of operation but it isn’t in line with how much profit these companies have made. Something like 10-12% over 40 years to close to 50% in two. Covid gave them an excuse to raise prices regardless of their operating costs.

Apparently not because I’m not the one whining and complaining about Doritos being $6 a bag or a #1 combo at McDonald’s being $15 because I don’t eat that shite. The dumb people are the ones buying those things.

50% profit margin?

Do you have a link?

Many are public companies. I'd figure that this would be more publicly known if true.

Close to it. Look at the top 3 main producers of food sources and it’s staggering. I listened to a podcast about it earlier this week and they cited their statistics. I’d have to go back and listen for it to dig deeper into the numbers. There’s recorded conference calls if CEOs admitting to raising prices that outpace their normal margins.

How’d the effects of Covid factor in on those numbers..,, just curious?. Seems like everything went up during and after Covid.

A gallon of milk is $6 where I live and a small block of cheese is the same.

Dairy products went through the roof like Salmon.

Just jacked everything up after Covid.

Suddenly everything was $3 more. And the price of cereal is the most colossal ripoff in the food industry... It's fricking wheat and corn...the most abundant source on the planet.

Tyson foods net profits are down despite revenues going up.

That was the first food producer that came to mind.

I don't believe your sources.

Kraft's profit margin for 2023 was 10.7%.
In 2022, it was 8.9%.

I'm not seeing what you posted. And these are the largest food producers that I can think of off the top of my head.

I’m truly thankful every meal we have at home (majority) and every grocery trip that I can buy what we need without worry. Do I like it — not a chance in hell. But can I still shop without too much worry about prices? Yes. Feel very blessed.
