Was it ceramic tile or plates? I assume its for ballistic shielding.

If he had an actual ceramic tile and thought that would be body armor.....I will laugh.

Not regular kitchen floor tile, ceramic ballistic (bullet proof) tile:

Lighter than steel but still offers ballistic protection

Me too. I just heard tile, I assumed the kind used in bullet resistant vests or trauma plates. I honestly do not know either.

It’s not dumb if you don’t know. I ask dumb shite here all the time. Better to ask anonymously here than look dumb in real life is how I have it figured.

But the answer is what everyone has said.

I don’t know how long ceramic has been used for protection like that. But I saw it a couple of years ago.

It’s low end ballistic plating. You can buy it online.

That's what I assumed. Not a bad way to make a quick sniper's nest with the two bags. Would be hilarious if they were just ceramic tiles.

There are ballistic plates for backpacks that you can use as torso protection. You can quickly flip them out and wear them as back and chest protection.

It tells me he was afraid he was going to get killed as he was attempting to assassinate Trump. He’s a coward.

One would assume you would be more than willing to die.

He had to of known that he would be killed? You pop off a shot at the president and you will be killed. Before or after you will be shot. Maybe thought it would give him extended time if seen?

I feel I may have some insite into this question as a security professional (lieutenant) at one of the most high-profile enclosed retail properties in North America. My four-man team and I do not get the money, equipment, or glory afforded to the so-called cops, but when it's time to put everything five-by-five ranks and unfiorms don't matter much, My incident planning scenario involves me taking multiple rounds of .300 Winchester Magnum from an assliant located 35-50 feet above me with a DMR. This will enable my partner to reach our electrically powered rapid response vehicle and retreat back across the parameter so we can regroup.

Ceramics and ceramide polymers are an integral part of this plan. We've had to improvise in this area. Again, we don't get the glory or the budget. What I've taken to doing is to wear a Lycra bodysuit one size too large and stuff ordinary tiles, Krogar bags, and scrap steal between this kit and my epdiermes until it become totally intolerable.

Again, class, there is nothing sexy about any of this. But at the end of the pad, I have a job to do and rercamic is a big part of it, until I learn about something better.

The role of the ceramic is to (1) fracture the projectile or deform the projectile nose upon impact, (2) erode and slow down the projectile remnant as it penetrates the shattered ceramic layer, and (3) distribute the impact load over a larger area, which can be absorbed by ductile polymer backings.

You beat me to it. Great work there. That's precisely what it's for and does.

I'm gonna translate that to non gun people speak tho.

The hardened tile is there to break up, or fragment the incoming bullet. As well as to slow down what remains of the bullet, so that the layers of ballistic weave underneath the plate can catch and stop what is left of it.
