Stop this nonsense. I don’t want to give up my Saturday afternoon for your kid. Let’s stop this charade. Have a little family party with your immediate family.

You want to stop kids from having birthday parties?

Did you run out of sand castles to kick down?

Couldn't find any lemonade stands to report?

Had my daughter’s birthday party at the house today. 10:30-12:30 and then politely GTFO my house. Have done the afternoon parties and it turns into an all day event. The pre-nap morning party is the way to go. Provided food and mimosas for the parents.

Ehh, I like them. Just make friends your kids friends parents. I went to one today and was friends with 6 of the parents, so we hung out and talked for two hours while the kids built Legos. Wasn't a bad two hours in my opinion.

Well I'm a woman and most of my friends are so to us it was fun. We got to bitch about our husbands as well so there was that added bonus!

I agree.
We take our kids on a weekend trip for their birthday.
Spent to much on parties when they were really little only to have no one show up ..

Why are you trying to cut into kids' gift streams?

Every weekend my kids have their kids at the Country Club or the Tennis Club or the Yacht Club for this stuff. I’m only on the hook to attend for the grandkids themselves and a few really close friends kids.

They generally last 2 to 3 hours.

I generally make a drive-by. The three Bs:
Be seen
Be nice
Be gone

I’d be pissed if I had to stay full duration and attend all of them.

One of my husband's friends said he had a great time at my sons birthday party in a comment on a photo i posted on Facebook.

He got to hang out at my house and eat, drink a few beers, talk to some other dad's of the kids his son has went to daycare and school with since he was a baby for an evening, while his kid played with his best friend and classmates.

How doesn't that sound like a good time. What do you do with your friends on a casual Saturday afternoon?
