UPDATE ON UKRAINE 05 May 2024
A 17 April 2024 decree signed by the pro-Russian governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast states that Russia is preparing the necessary infrastructure and measures for military conscription in Russian-occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia.
This would be the first conscription drive in this temporarily occupied territory since its illegal annexation by Russia in September 2022. It is likely that Russia sees this measure as a way of satisfying the need by the Russian Armed Forces for additional personnel to support its war effort. The effect of the decree is likely to be limited given that a significant proportion of the population of Zaporizhzhia has departed. For instance in Melitopol, the largest city in Zaporizhzhia under Russian control, only 40% of the pre-war population remain and half of those consist of ethnic Russians offered work in the city.
This decree is also part of a broader campaign by the Russian authorities in the temporarily occupied territories to coerce the population to accept Russian governance. This also aligns with attempts to ensure residents have Russian Federation passports and voted in the recent Russian presidential elections. The Kremlin continues to pursue a relentless Russification policy across the temporary occupied territories of Ukraine.

BBC: Russia lures Cubans to army with offers of high pay, Russian passport

Leaked documents reveal that Russia has been coercing Cuban citizens into the Russian Armed Forces with salaries of approximately $2,000 per month, in addition to offers of a Russian passports within months of signing up, a BBC investigation revealed on May 4.
According to the BBC, hundreds of Cubans have allegedly joined Russia's Armed Forces since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, online leaks reveal.
The BBC investigation further revealed social media posts suggesting some Cubans are receiving Russian passports within months of signing up for the Armed Forces, a theory that was corroborated by local media reports suggesting that citizenship to newly-recruited Cuban fighters would be granted "in the future."
Russia continues to increase its campaign to recruit foreigners in neighboring countries and exploited migrant workers for its war against Ukraine to avoid domestic mobilization. Foreign recruits from Nepal, Cuba, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Somalia, as well as additional central Asian and African countries, have served as primary targets for recruitment.
In January, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree allowing foreign nationals who join the Russian Armed Forces to be able to apply for Russian citizenship.

The USA to provide seekers for Ukraine’s JDAM-ER to defeat electronic warfare systems
The US Air Force has signed a contract with Scientific Applications and Research Associates for the acquisition of Home-on GPS seekers.
The JDAM-ER kits, which are mounted on bombs, will be equipped with these seekers.
Plans to provide Ukraine with JDAM-ERs with new seekers arose as Western precision bombs reportedly suffer from Russian GPS jamming systems.
The Home-on GPS seeker should enable Ukrainian JD?M-ERs to defeat GPS jammers.
Essentially, this will turn one of the weapons most affected by this counter into a weapon used to directly engage it.
This follows growing reports that Russian jamming is seriously reducing the effectiveness of GPS-guided munitions supplied by allies, including JDAM-ER.
