When I was a kid in the 70's we used to ride around the neighborhood on our bikes looking for empty soda bottles to return for change so we could buy candy and drinks from the convenience store.

Also, building ramps to jump our bikes on or ride our skateboards up.

bottled water. Soda or Gatorade

I remember before bottled water was sold in the cooler. Maybe one brand that nobody bought. I used to stock coolers.

All the kids collecting bottles all over then getting a nickel a piece for them or something for them, I swear I think at 7-11 or something then after splitting it up having enough to buy a candy bar (15-20 cents) a bottled coke (15-20 cents) and a few comic books 25 cents and get change for my dollar. They had those wooden boxes you put them in etc. This was in early 70s

When you had a problem with another kid and he kept being an a-hole, you fought. Problem solved. No talking to the parents, teachers, or guidance counselor. Since Columbine happened, they are so freaked the frick out in schools now.

I have distinct memories of going to K-Mart on Florida Blvd with my family and that giant plastic Icee with the stripped straw that would rotate at the popcorn stand by the registers.

I remember going to Toys By Roy in the old Cortana Mall and looking at the miniature soldiers in the glass display case and the dolls that looked like Groucho Marx and Marilyn Monroe.

I remember when Catfish Town opened and our elementary school had to sing songs at the ceremony.

Ok…so that’s 3 things. Sorry.

Didn’t Russia start this back up? If it ain’t in a video game, most American kids wouldn’t know anything about a gun.

Dude was literally taking photos of Diane without her knowing and watching her from afar. Back then he was a "hopeless romantic" -- nowadays he'd be considered "creepy" and a stalker

Our BMX bikes were treated like a luxury sports car.

Building a bad arse tree house.

Epic tackle football games.

Camping out in the backyard in tents.

Staying up all night talking to girls on the phone.

Calling the radio station and dedicating a love song to a girl.
