Sorry to hear about the cat, and hope the injured one pulls through.

ETA: Misread and thought Fr33 was OP.

Apparently, this is true. But, the bat definitely has fangs.

Yep need to bag it and get it tested for rabies. Happened to me when I was a kid while fishing. Bat landed on me during the day and it had rabies. It didn't bit me but they said any saliva contact could get rabies. Had to get all the rabies shots

I did bag it. I'm effectively in the same boat.

I’ve killed probably 12 or more in my house over the last 6 years and that pic doesn’t look right. Definitely looks like something is off with that one

FTR.. the John Candy/ Dan Aykroyd scene in The great outdoors is a great tutorial on how to kill one. A tennis racket is best.

The iNaturalist app struggled with the pic, but one of its suggestions was a Little Brown, which is highly unlikely. Most bat species have teeth like that, though.

Very sad case, he picked up what he thought was a dead bat in the debris of the aftermath of Katrina in BSL and it bite him.

He and his sister didn’t tell his dad because he didn’t want to get into trouble and was told specifically not to touch anything etc.

He died of rabies like a month afterwards. He was like 13 years old or something. It’s a terrible situation. By they time they figured it out it was too late.
