It's taken four years but I finally caught it. I have a stopped up head and body aches but it's not too bad. I could work out if I wanted to but I guess I'll take a few rest days. Those of you who've had it, how long did you take off and did you start slowly or jump right back into it?

I got it this year after avoiding it for 3 years. I tried hitting the gym after a week and it was not pretty. Apparently muscle fatigue is a real thing after covid.
I could barely work with 10 pound weights. I was actually pretty mad about it.
I took it slow after that. Just backed up on my weights and eased back into it. It took about a month before I felt normal and got back to where I was before I got covid.
Just take it slow and easy. Don’t push yourself too hard. Let your body rest.

Are you people still testing every time you get sick?

I have had COVID 3x, trying to collect every strain as a badge of honor.

I think common sense should be used here..If you are feeling really beat down, listen to your body and give yourself more time than you normally would.

The first time I got COVID, I felt pretty bad and I was super conservative about returning to training. No regrets there.

The next 2 times, it was like allergies or a common cold. I barely took any time off, but again I listened to my body and returned when it felt right.

i got it for the first time in January of this year. i'm generally riding a bike between 12-18 hours a week (cyclist obviously).

i took four or five days completely off the bike. i started back very slow, just turning the legs for an hour pretty much. After about 2 weeks I was feeling normal enough to restart normal activity

I ran with Covid because I’m not frail or fat

Worked out for the first time in over a week. Surprisingly, I didn't lose any strength. Not surprisingly, my stamina went in the shitter.

I had COVID back into January and my symptoms were so bad that I had to take several weeks off even after I recovered.

The best advice I can give you is to only work out after you’ve 100% recovered. Make sure your heart rate is good. I’ve read about people who have elevated heart rates for prolonged periods of time when they work out post-covid and it freaks them out. Having tachyardia is pretty normal when you have COVID but make sure you get it checked by a doctor if you have it. Get an EKG and chest x ray done just for the hell of it. That’s what I did

I am one of those. First 2 infections were nothing. The 3rd was awful. I resumed running about 2 weeks after acute symptoms went away, and then I spent the next year or so trying to solve my recurring heart pains.

Experiences vary so much. I’m not advocating fear. Just rest enough and listen to your body.

Honestly, a lot of the heart issues from COVID depend on how old you are and if you suffer from any pre-existing heart conditions that could be exacerbated by the infection.

Luckily my tachyardia was fever-induced and wasn’t associated with the infection itself

Hats off to those of you who just had a head cold. This is kicking my arse. The symptoms are mostly gone by now but I have overwhelming fatigue. I worked half a day Monday and did some moderate exercise and it's knocked me out for the next two days. Taking a shower and getting dressed was my big accomplishment today.

That’s how I felt for a couple of weeks after COVID. The symptoms were gone but the brain fog/fatigue was so severe that everything looked dimmer.

The initial-onset symptoms felt more like a super-strong flu than a head cold to be honest. I didn’t have any respiratory issues which was good but it was still awful

Yeah I’m on Day 6 of Covid right now. Killing me missing a week of the gym. Gonna get light workout in tomorrow morning.

Feeling decent now, the first few days of fever and chills were the worse.

After Covid I remained physically fatigued for about 2 months. However, I did maintain 3 days a week working out with dumbells and some machine resistance. So, go easy at first and ramp up.
