Just finished. Never saw it before and we binged it in about 2 weeks. One of the best series we ever saw.

Max was my only character I didn't like. Her accent and monologues annoyed me. Eleanor was an annoying character but it is what it is.

The storyline everyone is talking about actually felt like it fit so I didn't have an issue.

Vayne was a legit badass.

I watched Shameless before I started Black Sails so his character took me a few episodes to get used to

He and Rackham were my favorites by far though

Just finished the entire series in 7 days and man, that was good television. In my top 5 for sure. A few thoughts:

Captain Flint was my favorite character, and prob in my top 3 favorite characters. Perfect casting, writing, and acting. Throughout the whole series, I couldn’t say definitively whether Flint was a good guy. I felt like he was, but there was just enough there in the back of my mind to question him, but even with that seed doubt, I found myself saying, “I’d follow that guy”. He just wouldn’t be denied, an unstoppable force driven stoically by his anguish (kind of an oxymoron, I know).

When Vane says he’s going to rescue Flint, I jumped out my chair and cheered.

As others have said, Max kinda sucked. Eleanor was ok. Anne Bonny was great.

John Silver’s character arch was great.

Cinematography = great.

Ending? You guessed it, great.

I would love to go back in time to see Nassau with ships in the harbor, the fort, etc. All that just fascinates me.

I re-watch almost every year. I dont think there has ever been a show that has had so many good character arcs. I mean they just hit on everybody.

All in all I enjoyed it. The gay shite fit well enough I thought, but the complete disregard for historical accuracy did annoy me. I get that they wanted to do a graphic keelhauling scene but why not do it to one of the fictional characters instead of one whose real ending is so well known? And the happy couple sailing around the world is not a better ending for their arc than Bonney's famous real-life quote.

And Ray Stevenson may be a little typecast but I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen him in.

will say that I would like to see the Urca gold storyline come to an end soon. That has been looming for the whole show to this point, and I'd like them to stop getting bogged down and sidetracked with things and get to either finding it or not finding it. It's holding the show back a little bit IMO.

Same for me as well. I never would have thought after the first time we meet Jack that he'd end up being my favorite.

Yea Jack is by far my favorite. The final scene in that show is probably my favorite ever. Not the best final episode, but that final scene... perfection.
