About 30-40% of private businesses are closed on Presidents Day. If you work in finance, you’re probably off

Goodell also floated the idea of expanding the NFL's international presence. He said the league could have as many as 16 games played annually overseas within the next 10 years
they just love making it worse and worse with idiot decisions like this
you want a europe NFL league then just start it up again, leave our home games alone

It was mathematically perfect at 16 games with 32 teams divided into 8, 4 team divisions. The fact they fricked that up the arse chasing money tells you all you need to know about Goodell and the owners.
With all of its issues, the NFL is still the best professional sports league on the planet but the margin is dwindling. It started with the pussification of the game to avoid CTE related lawsuits. And now, left unchecked, the hoarding/pursuit of wealth will eventually ruin it completely.

Goodell has been amazing with the exception of covid, being way too woke, and his personal vendettas against the Patriots and Saints
He’s unquestionably been bad for the game. For everyone’s pocketbooks, sure he’s been good. But the game sucks because of him.
And, I’m typically sick of football around January.

But does he want to expand the rosters?
Did he talk (lie) about how much he cares about player health and safety?

Only 8 NFL QBs survived all 17 games this season.

I would accept 18 games if the following conditions are met:
1. Playoff goes back to just 12 teams instead of 14
2. Preseason is only 2 games.
3. Teams have their Thursday games scheduled around a bye so no team plays on a short week.
4. Every team gets two byes.
5. Eliminate the week off between the super bowl and conference championship games.
6. Pro bowl goes after the superbowl instead of before.
7. Manning Cast for every MNF.
8. Make the Thursday night game start at 7:00pm eastern and have that game have a nickelodeon slimecast.
9. Break up the current regional broadcast/sunday ticket model so viewers have access to more than just 3 games during the day on Sunday without having to get Sunday ticket.
10. Expand NFL active rosters from 53 to 58.

fixed
the rest is not needed

I actually like the slimecast, and I like having another midweek game. I just hate how the game always feels crappy because one or both teams are coming off a short week. Have them playing on Thursday coming off a bye, and it probably won’t feel that way.
I’m fine with further roster expansion to 70.

This doesn’t prove anything… if they got knocked out before week 18, they wouldn’t have survived a 16 game schedule either
And there’s a difference between being knocked out injured and being replaced because they suck

Maybe I'm the one out of touch, but I'd imagine only a very small minority of people watching the Super Bowl are off for President's Day.

So the owners also hate the Saints and love incompetent officials?
Posted on 5/2/24 at 5:50 am to loogaroo
I dislike schedule expansion primarily because it fricks up all the statistical records. It also makes each game a little less meaningful. I wish the NFL had stayed at 16 games.

did McAfee recycle the TRL set?

How about scrap all the preseason games and go to 18 that way
You don't need preseason games at all, college doesn't have preseason and if nothing else the first regular season game can be used to work the kinks out
You would be better off just having the practices teams conduct throughout fall camp

You, of all people, acting like you know what is best for an NFL team is laughable

Disagree. Preseason games are important for rostering purposes, but only 2 are needed imo.

They also dont cut people to get down to 50 players.

We didn’t have preseason in 2020 and everyone survived…

If they do this why not expand the roster size? If you’re going to play more games you deserve more depth
