I’ve never watched it before but my wife is watching it and I will catch some parts of some episodes and it’s kind of funny.

I think I tried watching it but it had a laugh track, did it not?

It has funny moments. Not as funny as golden girls.

I watched it during its initial run as a teenager. It's still pretty funny to me, even though it's also nostalgic

Is it even supposed to be?

The dudes except Ross are funny
Phoebe is one of the worst characters ever. If I knew someone like that in real life I would hate them

What's funny about Friends is that this stupid innocuous show about vapid people triggered so many people so long after the fact that its held up as Patient Zero by the SJWs who probably were too young to even watch the show at the time.
Yeah, the shows not remotely funny, so why is disparaging this moronic show such a big deal? Well, the show was huge. And to those that think its not diverse but too white, homophobic and sexist, etc...well for them that means society as a whole is too.
I mean, its still a show that I always thought was more soap opera than funny. Stupid love triangles and petty fights with each other ad naseum.
But it was the biggest show in the late 90s, maybe that says something about the 90s. It was still better than that other late 90s New York TV show about ugly whores sitting in restaurants talking about wanting to get dicked all the time but too bad men are the devil, that progressives still love...maybe because Friends didn't take itself seriously like that other faux avant-garde old hag town pump show.
But that's what is funny about Friends, that it became so polarizing when it wasn't really when it aired... Because it was a TV show that was never held up as that funny or true to life, just popular...just some good looking people sitting around drinking coffee, hogging the one couch in the coffee shop, never going to work and musing about some mundane thing in their life. God, that show was so 90s. Full House on steroids.

Friends gets the Nickelback treatment.
It made 10 seasons and was the most popular show on during it's time.
20 years later, people love to shite on it. It's like any show that made it a long time. There are funny moments and dull moments. Good story lines and terrible story lines.

I remember the show being very popular among the girls in my high school. The concept of mixed (male/female) clique with some Intergroup dating drama was real enough, with these groups being homogeneous (all straight and white, with no tokenism).
Also Importantly, the theme song “I’ll be there for you” was also immensely popular and was played on the radio a lot (with the girls loving go clap along during that part).

It’s a ten year show about Ross slowly going insane; so that checks out.

Never thought it was all that amusing.

Same for me, I chuckle at it when I watch the reruns, not because it’s “funny”, but because it puts me back in a happy time during the 90’s. It was well-written for that type of show.
I imagine people who didn’t watch it when it aired would NOT find it funny.
It has a large, niche audience.

Always thought it was pretty far fetched. What men go hang out at a coffee shop for happy hour? What grown, respectable men have roommates?

It had moments that were chuckle- worthy, but I hated it. It was pro wrestling for girls, with the same small group swapping endlessly back and forth between partnerships and feuds, except it was staged romance instead of staged violence.

I used to think it’s funny, but it’s unwatchable for me now.

Chandler and some of Joey are funny. The rest could pass as Seinfeld extras, seeing as they’re such awful people
