This *seems* to be encouraging.

The only way to get better is trades, and you'll have to move salaries, and you only have 3 real salaries...

That sounds great until you realize he's referring to role players and shite.

Snake Oil for sale.

I'll believe his words when he shows BI the door

I believe him because what he is saying is 100% logical. He didn't want to make a major move without seeing what he had first. This was the first season we really saw that.

And yet he makes excuses for the big 3 having a negative net. And goes afar as mention the fit around them is the issue and that needed to be addressed.

I want to listen directly, but I'm guessing Jonas is the scapegoat.

When asked about the big 3 losing their minutes he talks about how with 2 they win minutes, with 3 they lose them. They will address ancillary pieces, but they have to be open to certain things (alluding to having to be open to trade?)

Or it could mean, open to different roles, like CJ to the bench.

I think he was also referencing their own fit with one another.

He’s going to stay loyal with the guys who got us there. Instead of mixing it up and seeing what will work. I love Jose but OKC was a bad matchup for him. We need shooting and he won’t throw in Hawkins or Ryan? Unreal.

Yes, and he clarified that at the very end with his last statement.

He talked about how if you look at the successful teams they have more than 1 star player, but they fit together.

He alluded to how Denver is essentially built around Jokic, but they also have Murray who takes the clutch shots and fits with him, and that we have to find those stars that fit.

That along with the non commital contract talk with BI screams he will dangle BI and picks for a star player.

Also, theres this

No. He literally said "that has a lot to do with what we support that group with" in the next sentence regarding the negative net. He clearly feels those 3 aren't the underlying issue.

Didn't they give up like 240+ points between games 2 and 3?

I know it’s easy to be a negative about Griff not making changes rn but the last 40 games of this season have made it blatantly obvious what needs to be done.

The health excuse no longer holds water. We saw what a Pels team with all 3 healthy looks like, and it’s a good, not great team. Add in the impending money crunch and it couldn’t be more clear BI’s salary slot needs to become something else so Trey can start and we upgrade other areas.

Griff loves BI but I’m pretty sure he loves his own job more than any one player.

And after that he said "but certainly we have to be open to a lot of different things." He's not going to publicly bash CJ or BI or even hint at them being on the trade block.

The overall impression I got is that just about everything in on the table this offseason and that includes moving CJ/BI.

I will say this although personally I think they’ll run it back, they’re wasn’t this crazy high praise for BI and CJ. Instead I just heard about the high praise in regards to Zion. I think this playoff series was a big reality check in regards to how good those two really are without Zion. I still think they may explore trading either but not once did I hear Griff saying we definitely want to extend BI. I think this is telling and will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Griff mentioned that in the presser that they now have the data they'd been needing to make decisions in reference to the Big 3 playing together. Hopefully meaningful moves are coming. The "ancillary pieces" comment does concern me a bit though. I don't think someone like Jarret Allen replacing JV solves the Big 3 negative NetRtg problem unless that allows you to play Trey over Herb.

I don't think you can read too much into this, but BI certainly seems like he doesn't expect to go anywhere.

Also, when asked if the team needed a true PG, he said "It would be helpful"

He was clearly referring to giving the big 3 the ancillary pieces to help them thrive.

And when he was asked about adding another difference maker, He said he doesn't know if we needed to add another difference maker as much as we are needing pieces that makes the difference makers we already have better.

You dude think we blowing up shite when in reality he's just going to move role players and call it a day.

He doesn’t but that was right after the game. He didn’t have his end of year meeting yet. I think if he talks after that meeting it’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say.

I still remember when Zion was due his new contract, Griff spoke openly about keeping Zion long term. I just didn’t hear any of that in regards to BI from Griff.

I mean theres some gamemanship here. Hes not going to openly say hes going to trade those guys especially a day after they got swept. It’ll depend on a lot of things and especially how they view BI and CJ. For instance, how do the BI contract talks go? How does CJ feel about maybe not handling the ball as much and playing bench role?

In the end- personally I think they bring it back- but I think theres a lot more at play here. Again, I think there was clear disappointment on how those two performed to end the year.
