Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure:
and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

I'm not a Catholic, but are people here not aware that the rate of sexual abuse is higher in Protestant churches than it is in Catholic Churches? Those are the stats I have seen, anyway.

I doubt it’s much different either way, people being what they are. What matters is the rate at which the church covers it up, suppresses the information, doesn’t report the crime to the police for arrest and prosecution, and quietly moves the predator priest on to another congregation to destroy yet more children, lives, and families.

Say what you want about the Catholic Church, but there’s a reason it stays so rigid to it’s old rules.

They don't call it "The Rock" for nothing. I'm in... and will die with my Catholic boots on...

(I just don't care for our Pope.)

Catholic teaching says Peter is the rock on which the church is built. The church isn’t called the rock.

Don't think he was quoting doctrine. You take it too seriously.

I do take it seriously. And neither Peter nor the RCC is the rock. Jesus is.

Why do you waste your precious time on this message board? You could do good elsewhere.

Jesus called Peter the Rock. Here are many biblical and historical proofs demonstrating the Primacy of Peter. Here in Catholic Answers.

No need. Simply look up the myriad of Bible verses in which the term Rock is used. It’s always talking about God or Christ.

So Jesus literally changing Simon bar Jonah's name to Kêpha ("Rock") does not sway your opinion at all?

Sadly, my church is remaining with the queers, so I will be seeking a new church home.

Just saw online a startup GMC in Asheville. It's going to hurt, but I pray many of my friends from the current church will join me.

One of the best things about being a Protestant, is being totally free (required, actually) to denounce other Protestants when they deviate from the clear moral teachings of scripture.

Every Protestant has been doing that in some form or fashion since 1517.

I pray that you will find a new church where Biblical truth is preached and that you will find great peace and happiness there.

Just read article that the provision allowing exit with this method has now been rescinded effective 5/4/24. I guess tolerance and acceptance is a one way street. I don’t want to sound bitter as I’m sad over the decision at conference. But this is BS as generous terms had been offered to those of the progressive wing. The UMC is going to be a zombie church that unfortunately will continue to exist a long time off their massive assets and real estate. But with a fraction of members. Look for some asset sales with money heading to progressive political causes near you soon. Peace out UMC!
