Then use a .22.

Put a game camera and see what time they’re moving.

get rid of the grubs/worms in your lawn

Armadillos dig up our yard whenever grubs get out of control.

This stuff stops the armadillo holes and keeps your lawn and shrubs looking healthy:

The key to trapping them is making a funnel. I haven’t found anything that reliably baits them into a trap. Figure out where they are traveling (side of the house, a fence line etc.). Take a handful of cinder blocks and build a funnel that leads into a have a heart trap. Then you can release them elsewhere or dispatch.

Just sprinkle moth balls in the area. They hate the scent.

223 vmax to the head and they don't know what hit them

They will jump a few times though after the hit...maybe cruel but it gets the job done

The wooden trap makers say that armadillo scent lures them into the traps. Funnel one in and leave him there a day to really stink it up. Then you don’t need the funnel anymore. Can’t do this with metal traps.

I caught one with a funnel in the wooden trap I built, but haven’t caught a second. Haven’t had new holes dug
yet either in the last week, so maybe they haven’t come back around. Not sure whether to be pleased or disappointed.

Armadillos are usually out doing their digging like between midnight and 5AM. A 22LR with subsonic ammo with a night vision scope would be optimal if you don't have your yard lighted enough. You could set up a security camera to notify your phone to hopefully wake you up when it detects their motion.

They are generally pretty oblivious to everything around them as they are close to being blind and deaf, or so it seems that way. If you run across one or more during daylight you can usually just walk up to within 20 to 30 feet of them and just shoot them. I have literally killed one with a heavy stepping stone and hit another one with a brick.

I’ve been 2 weeks armadillo free but had one tear up the yard the last two nights. Caught him at 3:30 this morning but missed him with the .22. I won’t miss again…

Not a permanent fix but definitely a deterrent. Sprinkle in holes they've dug already. They'll be back and once they get a load of that they won't be.

Funny, I posted this same exact thing on my HOA board and everyone seems to be having the same issue. I went and walked around and sure enough, everyone in my neighborhood has these holes and yards torn up.

Armadillos are fascinating creatures and sometimes important to medical studies since they’re always born as perfectly identical quadruplets.

They are known to sometimes carry leprosy which the species got originally from European migrants to the new world. In addition to being blind as bats. Anyway I’ve always tried to trap and release out in the country.

I wet an area under a light on the side yard next to a window. They will come to the wet area to dig. I just go glance out the window every once in a while and go out and shoot them when I see one. Works like a charm. The wet spot is bait.

Well looks like I’m joining the ‘Wits End Club’. Have lived here 8 years and never had a problem. Now in the past 2 weeks these bastards have torn up some of the healthier parts of my lawn. Going to try that grub killer route. If I can’t get them that way I’ll have to get a trail cam to see what time they’re coming out.
