Two days later I get a call from HR asking if I will work out the remaining 30 days on an interim contract. I laughed out loud. Said “are you serious?” said no thank you and hung up.

After I left the shitty finance company, I found out that the douchebag district manager had put me down as ineligible for rehire, which is something you do to an employee who was fired for stealing or something. He was a petulant little man, and was pissed that I quit.

A few months after I found that out, the same district manager texted me about some loans that I made that were coming due, and if the person handling my old accounts could contact me if he needed help.

My response was something along the lines of “lolz, good luck motherfricker

I worked one job for 10 years. I put in my notice to my boss and he said “ok” and that was it. Two days later he was trying to fill my spot.

Nobody cares when you quit…nobody. Sure, it might be a little weird for your friends your first few days you are gone but after a few weeks everybody has moved on.

Flush any type of loyalty you think you might have to your employer. If a better opportunity presents itself then take it and don’t look back.

Had a boss that was a jerk and totally ruined what was otherwise a great job. I worked week on week off, asked for a week off months in advance, knowing I would be putting in my 1 month notice required by my contract and timing it such that I didn’t work the last 3 weeks of my time there.

No worries with the new job. You will be needing another in April.

I quit the small bank in Tulsa when they started taking bets on college and pro football for the annual United Way fundraiser.

Why? Because the Tulsa PD raided a local moose or elk or Kiwanis social club for doing the exact same stuff and charged every person involved with felonies. (this was in the 90’s before the Indians opened casinos, barely had bingo halls) . Plus, back then the UW had a contract with the NFL to not accept gambling $ and to discourage betting on the NFL. IRS got involved and was crawling up everyone’s colon investigating the club members which also brought in the FBI.

Nowadays it’s not a big deal at all. 30 years ago though in a non gambling state all hell would break loose.

I spent the next few years consulting with the largest lender in OK working on mortgage loans and packaging and reselling loans to Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. It’s how and why I quit banking and reentered college for another degree and change of career: I saw the crash coming about 6 years before it hit. Was able to take a couple years off and still get started in the new career just as the crash occurred. (2 years off in my mid 30’s was NICE, would not trade for anything)

I never call anybody's boss. If I know people at the company, I'll reach out for a reference.
But chances I ever know that exact persons boss are slim to none.

Company that I started working for in January did this cleverly.

In the reference period of the onboarding, one had to be a previous manager. They called all references.

Smart move, because good candidates will only give the current manager.

It was a last stage litmus test that also gave the notice for both parties.

Hardest interview process, but the best job I’ve ever earned.

Uhh. I quit 2/28/20. Just as the first fre cases hit out west and people started freaking out.

I was mad as heck the night of 2/27/20 because those two guys I was training were buddies and were always acting the same way at work that they did hanging out together after work.

I decided that night in bed that I was going to confront the boss at 8 and told him congrats, he hired two worthless employees and i wasnt going to train his trash. By 8:15, I was walking out the back door with my shite in a box.

Went home, opened a few beers and called my wife and said I'm never working for anyone else another day of my life.
