any years ago I worked at a construction company. I hated it and found another job, and put in my 2 weeks notice. Day after I put in my notice boss comes up to me and says make today your last day. fricking prick. So I packed up right there and left. I drove 1 block up the service road from the office to a panhandle on the corner. I gave him $20, and all the company clothing I had and asked him to wear it every day. I wanted that a-hole boss to see that when he left the office everyday.

This is what I’m looking for

On the cusp right now. Just got passed over on a promotion for a guy with 4 years less experience doing the job and 10 years less experience on location. Ive been training for this specific opening for the last 3 years with the guy who retired and left the opening.
Ever consider that other candidate is just better on the grill than you?

No i think im4LSU is a doctor if i remember right. He does like to argue in threads so may be something to the passed over.

I walked away from my job totally out of the blue on Feb 28, 2020. I walked in at 8, told them I quit and packed my shite. I was out by 8:15.

I wasn't getting a covid clot shot or wearing a mask. And the 2 guys I was training were knuckleheads that thought they knew what they were doing, so I said frick it you do it then. They didn't last 3 months after i quit.

Covid lockdowns didn’t hit till March or April of 2020. Definitely no vaccine for another year after that.

Must have meant 2021 or 2022

Employers display little to no loyalty to their employees, so why should I?

The most factual statement in the history of this planet.

Without a doubt 100% of employers hate their employees. Its crazy that employers don't go bankrupt before even considering laying off or firing one crappy employee. Why should anyone keep their job if everyone can't?

I got a job as an entry level programmer out of college. The pay was a good bit under the average of starting pay for that position but they assured me in the interviews that it was temporary for the first 6 months. I figured this was a good opportunity to get my feet wet with the promise that my pay would reflect the market after the evaluation period.

As time went by, I started to see red flags from my boss. A lot of backtracking about items we discussed. The biggest being told that if I could figure out a solution for a year long problem, then my evaluation period would end. I worked my arse off and resolved the issue. After a couple of weeks of my boss not bringing up the end of the evaluation period, I brought it up myself. He said, they couldn’t end it early. I was highly upset but figured I only had a couple more months to go.

Fast forward to the end of my eval period, I had a meeting with my boss and the VP of the company. They blow a bunch of smoke up my arse then hand me the new salary sheet. The salary was still way below the starting range. I mentioned the promises made and discussed the salary range for my position. They both said they couldn’t do it right now but promised that they would be able to do even better than the market in the near future. (this was a highly successful company so money shouldn’t have been an issue.) I laughed, stood up and walked to the doorI turned back around and said, “this meeting is over, right?”

After that, I immediately went to my desk and started applying for jobs. I wasn’t even trying to hide it. Found one pretty quick that ended up being a great opportunity.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon. Cleaned my personal items out, left all my non owned stuff in my office. Left co. vehicle in parking lot and drove off with the wife (no pics). Got home and hit send on the email notifying them. I had enough of the BS and didn't want the whole dog and pony show of leaving, people asking why, etc. Work from home now, make more and have significantly more upward advancement opportunities. If you are miserable somewhere, don't stay. Life is short.

I knew a guy who did this working for Arthur Andersen. Moved to Spain and kept getting paychecks from them for months.

Had a blow up with a close co worker/friend of sorts. Water under the bridge now but knew it'd never be the same again.

I ghosted them after the weekly schedule came out. Got my wife and kids and ordered food through the drive thru when I was supposed to be working it!

Had a micromanager for a boss. After numerous conversations I just had enough and resigned same day. No 2 week notice

Current employer asked why I left, told them the situation, didn’t care I didn’t give a 2 weeks notice.

Recently had a coworker just walk out on a Monday. He sat down and worked from about 8AM to 9AM. Not sure what exactly happened, but he texted our boss that he quit and just walked out of the building without saying a word or collecting any of his shite. It was awesome. I’ll be quoting the same job as soon as I find another one.

I was flown back first class , reimbursed for my trip, due to a employee walking off the loading rack at a refinery for a well known BR contractor. My trainee, who got recently "released" closed all the valves going to the railcars, left the derailer and blue flag up and hid the lock key. Those who are plant baws, should know the contractor company

Corporate take over in 2000, working a badly business planned asian startup , and was determined to be the knowledgeable odd man out by the old company staff afraid for their retirements. Best ever early retirement after 30 years, and flew from Tokyo to Houston last trip home with vp operations of new company. Told him to take out paper and pencil for the best debriefing ever, covering everything from labor rates/overhead, to raw material to technology.
24 months later new company announced plans to sell out.

Honestly gave them 2 days notice. Then did nothing for those 2 days. Boss was a moron.

I did tie up all my work because I knew one of my coworkers would have to pick it up.
