Boebert slams Buck’s decision as ‘weak sauce,’ says she won’t run in special election

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) called Rep. Ken Buck’s (R-Colo.) decision to resign early “weak sauce” but said she would not be resigning to run in the special election to fill his seat.
Boebert represents the state’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes the Western Slope and much of southern Colorado. She announced late last year, however, that she would be running for Buck’s seat, which is located in the 4th District in eastern Colorado, after Buck announced he would not be seeking reelection.
But Buck moved up his retirement, announcing Tuesday he would be leaving Congress after the end of next week. The decision triggers a special election this summer to fill out the remainder of his term and threatens Boebert’s chances of being elected to his seat.
The development raised questions over whether Boebert would try to fill Buck’s seat for the remainder of his term. However, Boebert told The Hill: “I’m not leaving my constituents in the 3rd district.”
Boebert said she’s still planning to run in the GOP primary this June to serve the full two-year term in the 4th District and criticized Buck’s decision to leave his House seat early in a statement issued through her campaign.
“Ken Buck’s announcement yesterday was a gift to the Uniparty. The establishment concocted a swampy backroom deal to try to rig an election I’m winning by 25 points,” she said. “Forcing an unnecessary Special Election on the same day as the Primary Election will confuse voters, result in a lame duck Congressman on day one, and leave the 4th District with no representation for more than three months. The 4th District deserves better.”
Boebert also touted that she was the “only Trump-endorsed, America First candidate in this race.”
Boebert, who first entered Congress in 2020, is in a tough spot politically. The Colorado Republican barely won reelection in the state’s 3rd District against Democrat Adam Frisch in 2022. Her decision to switch districts was seen as a move to avoid losing in her current district, where Frisch has announced he is running again.
But the special election triggered by Buck’s earlier-than-expected retirement has thrown a wrench in her electoral prospects. Each party gets to nominate a candidate to face off in the June 25 special election — the same day as the state’s primaries.
Because Buck’s district is reliably red, whichever Republican gets chosen to compete in the special election is better positioned to win the GOP primary for the two-year term to serve in the district beginning in January, since voters will be weighing in on both races on the same day.
Boebert would have had to resign from her seat to compete in the special election for Buck’s seat, which would have further imperiled the GOP majority in the House.

You just can't post a thread about Boebert without pics!

Thankfully she didn’t take the bait.
Losing Buck makes the margins tight. Her resigning to run in the special for that seat would potentially flip the House completely.

Good decision by Boebert. She will win reelection easily in 2024. The election dynamics are different with Trump on the ballot. Trump will bring out more of her supporters for 2024.

I guess this is the thread where the Ronbois circle jerkers will avoid like the plague. I fondly remember them touting the endorsement of "conservative" Ken Buck.
Ole Ken, another wolf in sheeps clothing, that the RINOs have been throwing at us over the years. Hes turned out to be a petty, prissy, uniparty hack at its finest
Who abandons their post with only 3 months until election day? What a worthless, self-centered, POS, cuck this Buck turned out to be. This mindset was at the core of the DeSantis support

Someone who’s been paid a nice little severance package to do so. That’s who.

She is running in a different district and her saying she has a 25% lead is wishful thinking on her part. The citizens look at her as a carpetbagger and all of the 9-10 other candidates running for the GOP slot have all come out and announced they would all not support her if they lost.
She has a tough election to overcome her vaping/groping public image.

NOT a criticism of a fine aerial view....
(HOW does a theater get away with this obvious setting up of camera from several angles and targeting Boebert??)

She barely won her last election. With all of her scandals, I would say her time in politics is likely over.

I'm sure that's true. Which brings me to...
Doesn't it bother you cultists that Trump is going to turn out more people who want to vote for a candidate whose private life is most like an often coked-up stripper?
Doesn't that say something to you?

I am sure she will get smashed in whatever district she picks.

I don't see a dick. I'd volunteer to the dive and find out.
