Nothing creepy about that. No wonder you ruined a kid's Easter.

My 9 year old pretty much has it figured out but he keeps it going because of his younger siblings. And probably a little for his parents.

My 9 year old is emotionally more mature than OPs 17 year old.

am not going to create a BS story about a round table discussion with other 6 year olds though.

For all the sad and embarrassing real stories I've posted on here, you think I'm making this up for what?

It's not even a story that people are accepting positively

You’re a true piece of shite if you steal “believing” from a child.

Teenager spilling the beans is not a big surprise, but your further response was wholly inappropriate. You would likely no longer be welcome at my functions due to that response. It's not your place to decide when parents acknowledge Santa and the Easter Bunny do not exist.

In our family, we just never admit it no matter the age. I tell the kids to believe in the magic of Christmas and Easter. Even if they know, it can still be magical.

Obviously, your son believed at one time and thought it was fun based on his comment, so we can assume you lied as well and your son had fun because of your lies.

You know what a rotten, miserable place this world can be.

The world will rob as much magic from them as it can. You don't have to be part of that.

And look...somewhere deep down, they know. But mine are in 6th grade and Santa still comes, with a wink and a smile.

I still believe in Santa. Because I believe in me.

Don't take pride in being rotten to kids. That's what storybook villains do

I didn't think anyone still believed in the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus in the 5th grade. Most of that was over with by the 1st or 2nd grade.

Indeed. And when they have children of their own they can carry on the magic.

The ability to wink and nod about things like this, is likely as big a life lesson for a kid as anything else.

North Dallas Tiger thinks this story is amusing but also feels sorry for the little one who had their Easter ruined.

SIL sounds like a you-know-what...

I knew something a LOT more explosive than Santa in 1st grade (how babies were made) and that secret was kept until like middle school

Yup. It's called subtext. And it allows for a world where you can be in on something and still enjoy it without ruining it for others. It's why you don't spoil the show for someone else even though might know.

You want my true opinion?

Ok.

You have been on this website for such a prolonged period of time and you have such an expansive number of posts that it pushes the idea that your psychological/emotional state is somewhat tied to the persona you have created here.

Just my two cents.

Maybe there is something to having the personal view that you are the most intelligent person on the site.

Who knows?

I do know you weren’t always like this though, which implies some degree of external change or impact that altered your persona on here. Maybe people that know you personally could answer that better than I.

We do all change over time though. I posted a lot differently before 2020, and now I’m more of a cantankerous twat.

And that’s my answer.

Which is a really sweet thought....until your friends start making fun of you. 5th grade me and my buddies were already cursing pretty regularly and def not believing in the Easter bunny....these days I'd image its more accelerated.

You do realize that SFP just argues with people on here because that’s the only way he can get an erection? Arguing with people online is his porn.

I addressed that.

Psychological/emotional state is affected by the responses and reactions on here.

We all suffer it to a degree. It is the same effect people receive from likes and upvotes.

Some are simply affected more than others.
