video
Things that jumped out immediately
1. Everyone was in better shape vs today. A lot better.
2. People dressing very decent in public.
3. A lot of smiling and people taking their time.
4. Workers don't look rushed, frustrated, or stressed eventhough they are busy.
5. More social interactions between workers and customers and people eating (no one glued to iPhone).
6. paying with good old cash.
7. simplicity of the menu.
8. welcoming eating environment.
9. only bad thing was a smoker but that's a small price to pay.
It's like a microcosm or reflection of a functional and happy society.

No way people smoking in a different era.
Heck when I watch old news Clips of the Kennedy assassination, the reporters were smoking on TV.

OT figs will notice no indoor “service furbabies” and those trashy cigarette smokers.

I worked at one during high school. Owner-operated, good employees, good environment. Taught proper customer service, and customers back then weren’t entitled fat welfare goblins. The “food” was better, too. Haven’t been to a McDs in years.

Back when America had more mobility and was still rooted in a values-based society that people shared.
Now it's "my truth, your truth, their truth" etc.

It also looks like there are about 3 times as many employees in that video compared to a current McDonald's.

Social media and instantly accessible internet made most of this go away.

I worked at McDonalds as my first job in 1987. A few things from memory:
Sandwiches were prepared and kept in a warmer behind the front counter. I think they could be kept in the “bin” for 10 minutes. This meant people got their food faster (mostly).
I think our goals (which we mostly met) were taking the order within 40 seconds and getting them their food within 130 seconds. This went for drive thru and counter.
Every customer was to be greeted with a “welcome to McDonalds” as they entered the store.
The McDLT was a pain on the arse.
I liked working breakfast shift, making pancakes was fun.
Apple pies were deep fried and came out hot as lava. Needed to cool for an hour before distribution.
The ice cream machine was never broken. It was cleaned and serviced daily.
