Have you been in a coma the last roughly 40 years? That’s been going on a long time, Baw.
I love when posters talk about how young people these days are obsessed with keeping up with the Joneses. Keeping up with the Joneses as a social/economic phenomenon has been a thing for many many decades. They’ve almost certainly never lived in a time where that wasn’t a thing.

Here is the guy that claims MOST people are addticted to pills and alcohol. Not sure how that really fits into this thread though.

Back in my day there was no such thing as eating out, luxury cars, or vacation. We stared at each other over dinner, drank milk and hoped to eat McDonald’s one day.

Based on?

Like hell I'm not. And the number of people who are subsidized to live their lifestyles by the government grows every year. When 40% of those individuals who can't/won't budget openly advocate for socialism and communism because they can't be grown ups, it is my business. I'm tired of being the 50% who has to pay in every year while everybody else gets back their interest free loan the government gave them, and then use that money to finance stupid, depreciating assets and then complain about the hard charging capitalists who made their money with blood, swear and tears. It is our business on the petty, hairbrained shite our fellow citizens spend their money on, and how and why: It's called economics, and it doesn't operate in a vacuum. When the ship sinks, we all go with it, financial literacy be damned. People need to live within their means and stop being retards when it comes to their finances. If they would, we'd all be better off.
Let’s centrally plan our economy. That will solve things.

Why do people keep complaining about the costs of things and inflation, but they still feel the need to keep up with the Jones’?
It’s all they know.
A TON of people don’t have basic economic sense. They’d go bankrupt before they alter their lifestyle.

Because it feels better to have that temporary joy, than being depressed as hell that the country is slowly collapsing into the abyss.

Also have to remember that when brands like Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini a breaking sales records every year, it’s being driven almost exclusively by poor people. Rich people drive tundras and F150s ONLY.

No, you don't understand. Millennials invented everything bad. Millennials are the cause of all the bad in our current society. $5 coffee, birthday parties, road trips to Yellowstone, going to the concert....it's all the millennials fault!
