I ran a statistical analysis over the weekend and used some tools. I find the metric system to be a more precise and adequate system.

I still fricking hate it though. Because America!

It is so much easier, but switching systems at this point would be incredibly difficult from both a logistics and cultural standpoint.

The metric system may seem superior but it is man made. I'd rather stick with the natural way even if it's a little tougher.

I’m not sure you know what “precision” means in a scientific setting there, Sir Isaac Newton.

It is vastly more superior.

Scruffy also likes the 24 hr clock (i.e. 1800 instead of 6 PM) too.

I love it when you talk nerdy to me.

Also, I agree with Scruffy... Unilaterally switching to 24h clock and metric system would be amazing.

ETA: I was today's years old when I found out I'd been misusing the word 'unilaterally'... thanks Slackster

It is known... but it sure would be a pain in the arse to switch.

I use both.

I like the imperial system when dealing with distances.

I like the metric system in thermo and chemistry.

But I can do both with no problem. I have no issue using either.

There’s the metric system...and then there’s the motherfrickers that went to the moon.

There are two types of countries in this world. Those that use the metric system and those that put a man on the moon

The metric system may be superior but I still don't know how to dress when it's 12 degrees centigrade outside.

Both are arbitrarily concocted systems. Neither is really superior to the other.

The metric system is the Esperanto of measuring systems - i.e. designed to facilitate a one world government. To resist it is to resist globalism.

frick the metric system. I'm a carpenter and measure down to 1/32 of and inch and it works just fine. Go to home depot and find a metric tape measure, there is a reason we don't use it and never will. And frick kilometers on my speedometer, this country was built on inches and miles.

How is it more precise? Is there not 32nds or 64ths, or even the mystical 128ths?

It truly is, even people in NASA use it. People in the medical field use it as well. Actually saw some redneck losing mind over the fact that this nurse in the ER was using the Metric system. Dude was so lost
