I agree, you have to have a variety for all sorts of consumers.

Thats why they invented DIPAs, Rye IPAs, Black IPAs, and the occasional APA for unwashed masses.

Any idea of what kind of margins they do in a company like that? ROI?

I'm assuming the financial backers end goal would be to get bought out by one of the big companies?

What IPL's are sold in Louisiana? I don't think I've ever seen one.

OK, I just don't understand how you're not seeing this. There's been numerous articles on it. Some claim there's too much attn. devoted to IPAs in general much less having that as your only offering.

i am not saying have it as your only offering.I am saying a flagship awesome IPA would do better than blonde. In today's Louisiana There is vacuum for a good local IPA, Look at how well so-pro's IPA sold around town.

My comments have all been in context with the OP.

Dear new breweries coming to Louisiana,
Make a kick arse single IPA and you won't be able to keep up with demand and will be printing money.

Love SoPro IPA but Canebrake sells better than it.

I've read on here a lot that breweries need to have beers like blondes or ambers or something like Canebrake to pay the bills so they can afford to make the "good" stuff. To this notion I call bullshite:

I can say that is 100% false.

If it is sold here, it sells out within an hour. If it is announced the day it will sell, it sells out before it makes its way off the truck.

Unless I'm misinterpreting something in this thread LINK, then what I said is true. Most places released it on 3/31 this year, yet people were coming into the thread saying that they picked up a pack the next evening, and I think even later than that.

So pro's hoppy beers are arguably better than any of LA's. But, I bet they sell more jack the sippper (ESB) and their blonde than IPA

I find this humorous as a successful ATL area brewer who has been at it quite awhile was asked about the current prospects of starting a new operation by a newb desiring to break into the industry locally and his response was "if his or her best idea is an IPA they should save their money." I tend to agree with his assessment. I don't even know how one that started roughly 5 years ago that is in close proximity to me even gained traction as their IPAs and pale ale are mediocre at best, definitely session beer for someone but not me.

Founders makes some great beers, but AD IPA wouldn't be what I buy from them.

That is by go-to because it's good and easily available.

Really don't care where it is made, and I don't want to have to chase beer down because it is only available for short periods of time at the store.
