It is imperative that LSU win and look good doing so.

All the comments about it being just an exhibition and we don't need to dominate Wisconsin are nonsense.

We need to show big improvement on defense against Wisconsin, especially if there are little to no changes coming to the coaching staff. If we don't show significant improvement on defense, it will be a sign that Kelly is not sure what to do to make those improvements. It will also discourage any portal prospects in the spring if Kelly does not demonstrate that he can get a grip defensively.

Offensively, Nussmeier needs to show big promise. The offense better score and score often, otherwise we will enter the off-season with a lot of doubt about next year. After the fiasco on defense this year, LSU football needs all the reasons for confidence that it can get.

Serious football programs take every game seriously. Like it or not, this game is going to say a lot about where LSU football is headed.

It really isn’t. No kid is going to determine where they go based on any bowl game that isn’t playoffs. If anything it’s going to showcase where a kid is needed with this being a winter version of a spring game.

Lol.
Far less imperative than the previous 12 games.

The same people pretending that this game against Wisconsin doesn't matter will absolutely melt if we lose. It matters because it's an LSU football game.

We are a double-digit favorite. Kelly already lost once as a double-digit favorite against A&M in College Station last season. Making a habit of doing so is not elite.

No it won't. Like it or not this team will not be the 2024 lsu team. How do you people not get that.

With opt-outs by most teams the bowl games really don't mean much unless you're in the playoffs.

I categorically disagree. You might get average Joes who don't care whether they are well-coached. But I promise you, the best football players care about playing on a coached-up team. I would think twice about playing defense for the LSU staff that coached defense this fall if I were an elite player looking to go pro.

You have to be stone cold blind not to see that the defensive coaching this season was a massive failure.

I agree with you.

But for LSU, looking good in this game is beyond important.

Nuss needs to play well and look the part. This is his audition for next year. Anytime LSU tees it up, it's a big game. Need to use it as momentum toward 2024.

Wouldn’t the defense sucking be more attractive for portal guys? It means plenty of opportunities to play and pass up our scrubs

Sure, for average players who want a chance to play. We need elite guys, elite guys know they are going to play. They also know it's absolutely important to get the best coaching they can get in order to get to the next level.

No recruit has ever mentioned bowl game results when discussing why they chose a program. The playoffs have rendered all other bowl games as meaningless.

Explain how a game against an unranked Wisconsin without your starting qb and wrs tht won't be here next yet is "beyond important".

You didn’t hear?

Bo Davis is taking the DL job with incentive to become the next DC if and when House is gone. Just waiting until after Texas gets beat by Washington for it to be official.

Book it. Bo Davis is coming home

That's real easy to do, my friend.

One, while Wisconsin is unranked, I have no doubt that they will be ready to bring it in this game. This will be their super bowl and they will give LSU more than a challenge.

Two, Nussmeier is LSU's starting QB going forward until he is beaten out in fair competition before next season. That is highly unlikely.

Three, Those WR's who will be leaving will play one quarter, maybe two. I guarantee that in writing. You will have plenty of opportunity to see next years WR's and what they are capable of.

Once again, if Nussmeier and his WR's do not show something in this game, LSU could be in big trouble next season.

Also, I think you will see a very different offense against Wisconsin than you did with Daniels. That's a given.

absolutely this. If anyone wants proof that this game is very important just take a look at the scoreboard if we lose or even just play poorly.

LSU without JD5 is not gonna dominate anyone now.

IMO, play a clean game with good effort and just win.
