Battled? It's just a game. A game their universities are making millions off of. I'm glad college kids are finally looking out for themselves.

The way they always have to talk about the CFP during halftime of any bowl game on ESPN rather than focus on what game they are showing or what other games are on at the moment isn’t helping.

They are making the bowls feel meaningless. Commentary always circles back to the CFP.

I was personally shocked with how poor attendance has been at bowls this year. I know the China Virus has some to do with it, but some of these games were under 20% capacity.

Even the orange bowl last night was half full in the second half.

This surprises you?? We are in a pandemic with economic upheaval. Inflation is at an all time high and families are having to cut back on everything. Not to mention it is the worst possible time of year around christmas holidays. Do you really expect a family of 4 to spend $2k-3k with flights/hotel/tickets to go see a meaningless game with the shape our economy is in??

I love the revisionist nostalgia people are having of the BCS. People absolutely despised the BCS but yet now it’s the GOAT
I never had any problem with the BCS. The way the other “BCS Bowls” were packaged was much better than what we get now. Those games never felt irrelevant.

Nobody cares outside of hardcore fans because it doesn’t matter, what’s so hard to understand about that?

Uh, the majority of fans were clamoring for a playoff. You got it, and now you fickle people are crying about it.

The problem isn't the playoff. The problem is how it's executed and how ESPN immediately shifted from covering every game (even if it was just a 15 second blurb w/a single highlight on College Football Final) to cramming PLAYOFF TALK down our throats during EVERY SINGLE fricking game, every halftime, and every show during the year. Then there's the case of the Rose and Sugar demanding they play unopposed on Jan 1 every year like a pair of self important assholes. It's a shite arse set up and screws up the flow of the bowl season. The playoff games should be the last two bowls. Instead we're held hostage by a parade and a sunset and have playoff games crammed into NYE when most of the country is busy doing other shite.

Yes if you listen to social media and standard media's attempts to act like everyone is taken advantage of simply for having expectations placed on them.

This plays into my point that they have plenty in their favor already and before, we would all love being a D1 athlete, we didnt have to abandon all common sense in NIL and free for all for someone who runs fast or can throw a football.

I don't need any outside voices to help form my own opinions. You obviously have no clue what NIL means. I bet you are one of those tards who believe it just means colleges handing out free money to athletes.

Your thoughts & feelings along with most who share them are based in jealousy & envy. It's obvious from that quote alone. You are too stupid to realize prior to this any college aged person could make money off their own name, image & likeness if the opportunity arose yet college athletes were forbidden to because they simply played a sport.

No matter how you try to twist it, that restriction on student athletes was OUTDATED. You are just upset because of change period. You are one of those people who get stuck on doing it the old way is the best way when that is far from the case in certain situations like this one.

the only way forward now is just expanding the playoffs, getting rid of conference championship games, and essentially getting rid of/consolidating the other bowls

Disagree.

I think you get rid of divisions and then make all the conference championships true 1 vs 2 games.

That would make for an absolutely awesome CCG weekend and make it a defector expansion of the playoffs.

Why would my position on opt outs and NIL have anything to do with my ability to practice law? And why would anyone be so pro NIL and opt outs as to say a professional must suck at their position, someone who actually worked hard and paid his dues and now is reaping the benefits.... like a coach does... or anyone other than an entitled child.
