If you can't beat Scottie, you might as well become a billionaire I guess. Rory already has generational money though

Yeah it’s a bit suspect that this random newspaper no one has heard of runs the Rory piece, while the next day the Guardian, which is one of the most respected sports reporting newspapers in England, runs an article saying all the talk is about Hovland and Hovland is the next big target.
Seems like if the Rory stuff really had legs they would run with that as it’s a much bigger story. But again at this point who knows, such a shitshow.

I think I read somewhere that Rory pulls down $100 million per year through purses, endorsements, etc. $850 million sounds big until you factor in he would be killing his annual income stream and become hated as a traitor.
Arnie made more money in endorsements than he ever made playing the game. Rory is in that same boat. Legacy should matter to him because his legacy will be marketable the rest of his life.

I agree….. Rory
Is a cash cow merch wise. Rory never had to touch a club again and still have generational wealth. His legacy would forever be tarnished if he jumps….

I am sure he makes a fortune outside of tournament winnings but I thought this was funny.

Good. Scheffler is a class act, unlike a lot of the LIV guys.
Also, LIV is the golf equivalent of the portal and NIL in college FB.
Ruined the damn game and is nothing but a sideshow trying to cater to people who can't look up from their phone for more than 10 seconds at a time. I have tried to watch/like LIV, but it just plain sucks.

Rory is a UK turd. The shine wore off about ten years ago yet people keep trying to keep the dream alive. Jay worked his arse like a puppet.

I don’t know if SSG can outspend the Saudis.
If for no other reason than the Saudis don’t care about turning a profit at least in the short term.

lol at this stage Rory should be glad to get a Dave and busters gift card

Double comment - this turd will never win the grand slam and after he is done playing his senior lite par 3 tournaments , he will realize he is not even a pimple on the fat big arse of Daly.

The OP is a big PT poster
(Checks own post history) Last post of mine on the PT board was on 4/8 - over a week ago. Yep, pride, you nailed it. I'm a massive PT poster.
But, for a little additional pride levity, take a look at this post of his. Take note of the date of posting and his "two weeks" statement. Then go back and look up the date that Rahm announced he was jumping to LIV*.
*Hint: it was exactly 2 weeks from his post. I had to save the screenshot. It was peak pride.

LIV guys did great this weekend lol
They actually did. Another one of your terrible uninformed takes.
DeChambeau
Hatton
Cam Smith
Reed
All finished top 12.

Hovland hasn't been playing this year so it's not shocking scheffs caddy has made more.
Played a few tourneys then decided to go work on retooling his swing

Well when you can't win majors anymore, might as well go play in the caddyshack 2 tournaments
If that is all I have to do to make $850 MILLION I'd play those caddyshack 2 tournaments in a g-string.

That is why Keith Pelly is the biggest idiot involved in all of this for what he did with the Euro/DP World Tour and the Strategic Parnership. I think Jay is two faced and what he did using the 9/11 families was despicable, but the PGA had an existential crisis on its hands so it was somewhat understandable.
The DP World Tour's "Strategic Partnership" with the PGA was one of the worst business deals ever. They took some money from the PGA, and in return their top players get PGA cards and will make the jump across the pond. What did the DP World Tour get in return? Guys who are in the 150's in the PGA rankings get some spots in Euro events. Creating an easy way for Europe's top players to jump ship to the PGA and the Euro's get Charlie Hoffman and Jason Duffner in return.
The DP World Tour would have been in much better shape getting bought out by LIV, giving LIV's players access to OWGR points, and in return having players like Brooks, Cam Smith, Phil, Neiman, etc. playing in Europe a couple times a year.

I said at the beginning that no one wants to be the schmuck at the end standing next to Jay and Rory turning out the lights on the PGA Tour. Looks like Rory might beat them out the door.
This is exactly it IMO. And not to mention Rory definitely felt like he was left hanging out to dry when Jay and the Saudis struck an initial deal, after Rory was asked to be the face of the fight against LIV.
Monahan has managed this situation about as poorly as you can imagine. I can’t blame any tour player for considering taking the money at this point.

This just signifies that golf really isn't gaining any viewership, anywhere. Probably will be relegated back to a country club sport.

Not sure this is the takeaway

The 3.4 million average is ESPN's largest two-day number for the Masters since 2018.
The opening round on Thursday averaged 3.2 million viewers, and the second round on Friday pulled in 3.6 million.
The averages were up 69 % from second-round coverage in 2023, and this year's final round actually peaked at just under 4 million viewers.

Well that’s true when it’s The Masters & you have everyone plus Tiger.
They’re not setting any viewership records with the RBC Heritage this weekend. & LIV isn’t getting any viewers until they get on a major network
